Summary:
This job is responsible for patrolling the hospital to provide a safe and healthy environment for patients, family, and employees. This position is responsible for maintaining a positive working relationship with Children's Health System of Texas employees, various agencies and the public in order to carry out the proper communications and procedures in an effective and professional manner.
Responsibilities:
  • Patrol hospital facility internally and externally, enforcing the policies, rules, and regulations of the hospital; give directions and information throughout the hospital and assist with security problems
  • Ensure that all hospital entrance and exit doors are secure
  • Ensure all personnel entering the complex or building on campus are properly identified
  • Write reports on incidents occurring on campus property
  • Report all irregularities, emergencies, or suspicious activity to the appropriate party
  • Respond and assist to security concerns from personnel, visitors, and patient families on any or all Children’s Health System of Texas properties
  • Hear and respond to audible emergency alarms and instructions transmitted on the public safety radio
  • Respond audibly to public inquiries and transmit clearly over a public safety radio
  • Provide occasional personal escort services to students, staff, faculty or visitors
  • Provide motorist assistance when needed or requested
  • Stand for long periods of time
  • Assignments are subject to change at any time depending on the needs of the department
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
This is a full-time position.
You may be required to float occasionally to other Children's Health locations including Dallas, Plano and THD Clinics.( s Start time hours can be discussed during interviews)
WORK EXPERIENCE
  • At least 1 year related experience (i.e. Customer service, healthcare, hospitality, security, law enforcement or military.) Req
EDUCATION
  • High school diploma or equivalent Req
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Texas Department of Public Safety – Texas Private Security Bureau Registration - Non Commissioned Security Officer training and certification within 6 months of employment. Req
  • Valid, current Texas Department of Public Safety Driver's License upon employment Req
  • Pediatric Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behavior (PPMAB) training and renewed according to standard 60 Days, Req
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements
  • 60 Days, Req
  • Basic Level Certification (CHSO) obtained through International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety organization. Effective 11/13/2020 new employees must obtain this certification within 180 days of hire. Existing employees must obtain this certification by 6/1/2021. 180 Days Req
