Position Information:
  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years’ experience in a relevant field or role
  • Demonstrated interest in legislative policy, working understanding of the child care system, child care funding streams, and early learning policies;
  • Proven success designing and executing communications and marketing strategies and campaigns;
  • Demonstrated capabilities to produce graphic design content
  • Up to date on trends in early education policy and able to stay ahead of the curve;
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills and ability to meet deadlines;
  • Must be able to think analytically and strategically;
  • Capable of working well as part of a team as well as independently;
  • Great multitasker and capable of simultaneously managing multiple projects with different deadlines;
  • Familiarity or experience working with CRM software is an asset;
  • Superior written and verbal communications skills;

Responsibilities:

State & Local Policy & Community Engagement

  • Listen and learn from the experiences of families and providers, research, and data to inform and strengthen the development and implementation of early learning programs, policy & systems, and advance outcomes for young children, working families, early educators & child care programs;
  • Engage in “strategy sessions” with Policy Director and other CCA program leaders to help design solutions and means to advancing quality early education and care;
  • Work alongside CCA Policy Director and Institute to Advance Child Care Team to develop materials and craft messaging around new community and policy developments, as well as bridging understanding and outcomes from local programs to inform and guide state policy;
  • Develop materials to be used for parents, teachers, site leaders and other early education leaders to inform them required policy changes or support them in advancing policy agenda and priorities;
  • Draft & coordinate public comments and/or sign-on letters that advance policy priorities on behalf of CCA
  • Develop strong systems to track and systematically ensure engagement with priority local and state-level officials, understanding policymaker priorities and cultivating/maintaining strong relationships
  • Support the Director of Policy in developing and executing a policy and partner outreach strategy with state officials, local officials and business/civic leaders through efforts such as organizing/hosting site visits, supporting office meetings, and identifying other high-leverage engagement opportunities.

Policy Communications

  • Work alongside Policy Director to develop and execute on a communications strategy, including opportunities for CCA to demonstrate policy thought-leadership or leverage external expertise through op-eds or interviews that advance our short-term and long-term policy aims;
  • Support Policy Director in developing internal and external-facing policy communications, including policy briefs, memos, blogs, case-studies and whitepapers, in order to communicate learnings and/or advance policy priorities
  • Develop & publish daily social media content, in partnership with CCA Policy Director, that builds awareness around key issues, advances CCA policy priorities, and establishes CCA as a policy authority;
  • Develop and lead digital advocacy campaigns to advance high-priority policy priorities;
  • Develop & manage CCA Policy quarterly newsletter, building partners’ awareness of critical policy updates; status, learnings and, implications from local pilots; and other relevant information as necessary.
  • Conduct media scans monitor relevant media coverage to ensure CCA Policy team stays abreast of relevant, recently-released news articles, op-ed perspectives, research or policy developments

Special Projects

  • Work alongside Policy Director to manage Tarrant County Blue Ribbon Action Committee, supporting with committee communication, developing high-leverage agendas, and developing core materials;
  • Support CCA Leadership team in developing, planning, and executing community events that advance early learning systems changes or policy mobilization;
  • Opportunity to engage in strategy sessions tied to new pilot programs or initiatives that have the potential to impact early learning systems or policy advancements;
  • Provide project management support for pilot projects or initiatives directly tied to policy outcomes;
  • Support Policy Director and Advancement Team with fundraising efforts for both the policy division and associated pilot projects;
  • Support CEO in producing external stakeholder materials and data requests
  • Other duties as assigned.
