Principal Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Director of Public Policy, the Associate Director of Public Policy (Asylum Seekers Initiative) will provide overall support to the Director to further EA's policy and advocacy initiatives. The Associate Director will primarily focus on coordination of support services for asylum seekers and management of the Educational Alliance work authorization application assistance site and will support other EA-wide initiatives as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Work with stakeholders across EA to coordinate asylum seekers relief efforts and track progress of ongoing initiatives, help identify synergies and efficiencies, and identify new opportunities for service provision
  • Manage operations of EA's Work Authorization site, including volunteer application assistants, and liaise with external partners as needed
  • Lead planning and coordinate logistics in collaboration with relevant program staff and external partners for EA events that support asylum seekers
  • Support Chief Program Officer, Director of Public Policy and program staff with internal and external communications (e.g., government, other settlement houses, CBOs, local shelters)
  • Partner with Research and Evaluation team to identify, analyze, and present data and information collected from programs to reflect outcomes
  • Meet regularly with leadership and relevant EA staff for program updates, input, and guidance
  • Serve as internal point of contact for staff members and address questions and issues related to asylum-seeker services that arise, escalating to senior management when appropriate
  • Communicate and collaborate regularly with external stakeholders who serve asylum seekers, including governmental and non-profit entities
  • Stay abreast of federal, State, and City policy changes, trends and best practices that impact provision of services to asylum-seekers and communicate to relevant internal and external stakeholders as needed
  • Collaborate with EA's Development staff to identify and pursue funding opportunities from both governmental and private sources

Minimum Qualifications:

Verbal and written proficiency in Spanish is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Public Policy, Social Work, Non-Profit Management, or related field, or equivalent experience, preferred
  • 3-5 years of professional experience, preferably working with non-profit agencies, social service organizations, and/or refugee services
  • Direct service experience working with refugees, migrants, or other vulnerable populations
  • Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and an eye for developing efficient, internal systems and workflow
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities to meet deadlines and goals

Salary:

$75K-95K
