The Director of Team Development is responsible for creating, coordinating and evaluating orientation and training plans for Team Members in a manner that reflects the purpose and quality requirements of Chick-fil-A, Inc., as well as the mission, vision and values of Chick-fil-A Calallen.The Director of Team Development is one who consistently demonstrates our core values, embraces the Chick-fil-A culture and has a servant’s heart. The Director of Team Development communicates with other Restaurant Leaders to ensure the training and coaching needs of Team Members are met and Team Members are growing in knowledge and skills.

Director of Team Development Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the orientation of new Team Members and provides feedback to the appropriate Director(s) regarding Team Member progress
  • Assigns Pathway training modules as needed to support training and coaching needs
  • Coaches, mentors and develops coaches to execute training/coaching efforts and carries out strategies to develop confident and knowledgeable Team Members
  • Creates and executes certification training programs for key areas of the Restaurant
  • Coordinates the training program and acts a resource for the Head Coach and Coaches
  • Responsible for meeting regularly with the Head Coach and Coaches
  • Meets with the new Team Members and appropriate Leaders throughout the first 90-days of employment to discuss training and coaching needs, as well as obtain feedback regarding the orientation process
  • Ensures the successful roll out of new products by providing training and resources for the Leadership Team and Team Members
  • In collaboration with the Leadership Team, identifies recalibration training needs and creates plans to coach Team Members accordingly
  • Assigns Ascend training modules to appropriate Leaders and monitors progress
  • Coordinates LEAN365 training and oversees Kaizen events
  • Ensures the safety of Guests and TMs by evaluating the environment for hazardous elements and addressing issues in a timely manner
  • Collaborates with the Leadership Team regarding ways to improve the Guest and TM experience and aligns training initiatives accordingly
  • Contributes to the creation of an annual strategic plan
  • Contributes to the monthly newsletter
  • Responsible for oversight of the Education Council
  • Attends and contributes to Leadership Meetings and other meetings pertinent to the success of the Restaurant
  • Communicates any issues or challenges to the appropriate Leader and/or Leadership Team
  • Fully embodies the service standards by ensuring the execution of Winning Hearts Every Day (WHED), Core Four behaviors and 2nd Mile Service standards
  • As needed, resolves Guests concerns in a manner that maintains the honor, dignity and respect of Guests and Team Members
  • Adheres to food safety and hygiene guidelines
  • Manages resources effectively to ensure that target food and labor costs are met
  • When applicable, provides change of shift and/or end of shift summaries to ensure Restaurant needs are passed onto the next shift
  • As needed, assists Team Members with duties to ensure Guests receive a remarkable experience
  • Completes other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • At least 6 months previous food service experience preferred
  • At least 1 year prior experience as a supervisor, team lead, or restaurant manager preferred
  • Upon hire, must complete all assigned Pathway courses
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
  • Ability to complete tasks accurately, completely, efficiently and in a timely manner
  • Strong personal skills with a desire to serve Team Members
  • Strong commitment to superior customer service
  • Ability to manage Team Member behavioral and performance issues
  • Ability to work in a team environment with shared ownership and responsibility
  • Detail-oriented
  • Able to multi-task
  • Basic math, reading, writing and computer skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft applications as well as Google platform
  • Have the ability to lift and carry 25-50 lbs
  • Have the ability to stand for long periods of time (6-10 hours)
  • Have the ability to complete repetitive tasks with few breaks
  • Must be able to operate kitchen appliances, complex fryers and other food service equipment in the Restaurant

Working Conditions:

  • Works in a fast-paced, complex environment
  • Regularly engages with coworkers to accomplish tasks
  • Shifts may include mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, as well as on occasion, working outdoors
  • Reports to the Executive Director of Systems and Processes
