Chicago Public Schools CPS is Hiring a Data Analyst Near Chicago, IL

Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is one of the largest school districts in the United States, serving over 330,000 students in 600 schools and employing nearly 36,000 people, most of them teachers. Job Summary:
Within the Office of Diverse Learners Supports and Services (ODLSS), the Data Analyst will be responsible for managing the collection and evaluation of data, and providing reporting to leaders to ensure that Diverse Learners outcomes are monitored. Reporting directly to the Director, Data Management, the Data Analyst will use data to drive progress towards District priority and goals. The Data Analyst will provide sound survey, strategic, analytic, and project management expertise to Offices within the district and help set district standards for data processes and toolsets for analytics.
The ODLSS Data Analyst will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:
  • Perform analysis on complex data sets to extract meaningful information
  • Evaluate data for structural integrity and consistency
  • Compile, manipulate, and analyze data using appropriate statistical techniques
  • Summarize metrics and produce visualizations for key stakeholders
  • Ensure data quality and integrity across Offices
  • Communicate with broad spectrum of stakeholders at varying levels
  • Collaborate with business and subject matter experts to identify additional data needs
  • Adhere to a set of guiding principles for analytic practice as established by the Data Governance Council
  • Work with approved enterprise analytic tool sets. (SAS, SQL)
  • Compile, manipulate, and analyze data using appropriate statistical techniques
  • Participate in District's Data Analyst User Group
  • Perform related duties as required
In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the ODLSS Data Analyst must possess the following qualifications:
Education Required:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in finance, business, education, measurement, psychology, social science, public policy, economics, or related field, including quantitative coursework, required
Experience Required:
  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in a role requiring data analysis, relationship management, and consultative skills, required
  • Experience writing code with data analytic tools (SAS, R, SPSS, STATA, etc), required
  • One (1) or more years of experience as a business analyst or systems analyst, preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Exceptional organizational, communication (oral and written), and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, respond immediately to multiple constituencies and meet established deadlines
  • Ability to work in a team, with technical and non-technical personnel, and across departmental boundaries
  • Flexibility to meet changing departmental needs and priorities
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
Conditions of Employment
As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to:
  • Establish/Maintain Chicago Residency - Employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of their CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district. The Chicago residency requirement does not apply to temporary/part-time positions, however, all CPS employees must be residents of Illinois.
  • Be Fully Vaccinated Against COVID-19 - Unless approved for a medical or religious exemption, all employees are required to be up-to-date on COVID-19 vaccinations, including boosters, and to submit proof of vaccination to the district within 30 days of hire. "Up-to-date" on vaccination is defined as being at least two weeks past all primary vaccine doses and any applicable boosters.
