Chestnut Health Systems is Hiring a Community Health Specialist Near Bloomington, IL

Overview

Chestnut Health Systems is actively seeking a dynamic, full-time Community Health Specialist to spearhead and coordinate impactful projects supporting Prevention and Intervention plans across Logan County, Mason County, and McLean County. Responsibilities

As a Community Health Specialist at Chestnut Health Systems, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating, implementing, and evaluating multiple projects across Logan County, Mason County, and McLean County. Your primary focus will be supporting Prevention and Intervention plans that includes travel within the service area (Lincoln, Havana, Bloomington, Normal), with potential for a hybrid work arrangement. Your responsibilities will encompass developing, executing, and assessing various programs, including Youth Prevention Education curriculum and evidence-based initiatives for both youth and adults. You will lead schools and community groups in developing evidence-based programs and practices by facilitating organizational activities, meetings, and member recruitment. Other key duties include managing program budgets, conducting outreach with community stakeholders, conducting needs assessments, crafting media campaigns, identifying funding opportunities, mentoring staff and interns, and actively participating in advocacy groups. As a crucial part of the team, you'll contribute to fulfilling agency and funder responsibilities while upholding Chestnut's high standards for customer service and safeguarding organizational information.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree in behavioral health, public health, or education-related field with at least 5 years of professional experience or a master’s degree similar fields with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Key Proficiencies: Profound understanding of prevention theory, research, program development, needs assessment, evaluation, and community capacity building. Previous exposure to grant writing and budgeting is highly advantageous.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven capacity in leadership, project management, and a collaborative spirit demonstrated within both agency and community contexts.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Zoom, and adeptness in utilizing online reporting systems.
  • Other Requirements: A valid driver’s license, private automobile insurance, insurability, and a home internet connection are essential. The role requires travel to schools and various locations within the service area. Ability to obtain DCFS CANTS Child Abuse Clearance.
