Brightpoint is Hiring an Early Childhood Mental Health & Disabilities Specialist Near Bloomington, IL

Children with special needs and their families need extra attention to ensure that they are identified early and their needs are met in a comprehensive and individualized way. As the Early Head Start Mental Health & Disabilities Specialist, you will provide that extra level of comprehensive, holistic, family-centered support. You will manage all aspects of the Scott Early Learning Center's disabilities/mental health services program and work closely with other Early Head Start staff to ensure that children receive comprehensive and integrated services. The Mental Health and Disabilities Specialist will be responsible for working with families in McLean, Tazewell, and Woodford counties. This position requires travel to Tazewell and Woodford counties to meet with families in their homes and also requires observing classrooms the Scott Early Learning Center in Bloomington.

Candidate qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Child Development, Psychology, or a closely related field required.
  • One year of experience working with children with special needs required.
  • Comfortable with attending community engagements and on-site meetings required.
  • Valid driver's license, insurance, and a reliable vehicle required. 

*Candidates without the required education/credential may be considered with an approved educational plan.

Job details: 

  • Compensation: Range starts at $20.19/hr; offers are commensurate with experience
  • Benefits: Medical/dental/vision insurance, 3 weeks paid time off in the first year including the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day (PTO increases with tenure); 11 paid holidays, supplemental insurance options, 401(k) with match (more benefits details here
  • Location: Work is completed at the Scott Early Learning Center at 1119 E. Taylor, Bloomington, IL 61701 as well as in the community and homes in the Tazewell and Woodford County areas
  • Schedule: Full-time, hourly; general business hours with some flexibility required for special projects and evening/weekend recruitment events.
  • Student Loan Forgiveness: Brightpoint is an approved agency for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF)
