CHARLESTON KANAWHA HOUSING AUTHORITY is Hiring an Accountant II Near Charleston, WV

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The following represents principal responsibilities of the position; however, they are not intended to be all inclusive. CKHA reserves the right to change, reassign, or combine job duties at any time and at its discretion.

Assist in the management of tenant accounting activities, the processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable, the General Ledger activities, and the cash flow and investment program.

Prepare journal vouchers for input to general ledger. Assist in controlling monthly General Ledger closing calendar, and monthly General Ledger closing to meet the established closing calendar deadlines. Prepare monthly financial reports for departments, directors and management meetings.

Prepare monthly cash flow projections and ensure that cash reserves are invested to maximum returns.

Assist in preparation of operating budgets and monitor all income and expenses for effective budgetary control. Project income and expenses, perform variance analyses, and make recommendations.

Assist in the control of tenant accounting function. Reconcile DSO and Tenant Ledger to General Ledger. Assist Housing Managers and Housing Management Assistant(s) with questions about payments, move outs, collection loss, security deposits, etc. Check payments and reconcile cash at the end of the month for General Fund cash accounts.

Assist the Chief Financial Officer with accounting functions of CKHA.

Assist in the development and maintenance of internal controls. Audit and review tenant accounts. Receive all collection loss payments. Responsible for account reconciliation for the General Ledger.

Review General Ledger for unusual items and misclassified items, analyze accounts and make corrections.

Enthusiastically promote the Chief Executive Officer (CEO)’s priorities for the operations of CKHA.

Attend special training programs, as available.

Maintain the utmost confidentiality of all clientele information.

Understand and follow directions.

Keep work area neat and clean in appearance.

Regular attendance and punctuality are required.

Perform other duties as assigned

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $41,241.95 per year
