Change.org is Hiring a Trust & Safety Operations Manager Near New York City, NY

Change.org is searching for a Trust & Safety Operations Manager to provide dedicated people management, project management, and operational support to our trust and safety operation, using management and data skills as the primary competency for influencing decisions that would impact product and campaign teams.

We’re a social impact business (a public benefit company), and the largest tech platform focused on civic action in the world. We are profitable, growing fast, and executing on a plan to deepen and scale the social movements on our platform, from strengthening hate crime legislation in South Africa, to bringing down the price of insulin across the United States, to fighting corruption in Indonesia, Italy, and Brazil. 

We are looking for a Trust & Safety Operations Manager who is data savvy, great at people management, project management, and has a passion for expanding our platform to mobilize hundreds of millions of people to take deeper civic action.

You will be based out of North America (preference for Eastern time zones) and report to our Director of Trust & Safety. As a key member of our Trust & Safety Team, you’ll streamline our operational process to build a robust trust and safety system.

Key Outcomes

  • Lead our Trust and Safety squad
  • Manage high priority escalations and lead investigations to detect sophisticated abuse
  • Drive cross-functional efforts across product, design, engineering, policy, legal and PR/Comms
  • Analyze new and potential features and propose plans to help reduce or remove abuse before it happens
  • Develop best practices around Besedo that are new to AI/ML and make recommendations to better support product/campaigns team 
  • Potential for some proactive monitoring in NAU region

  • Data-driven mindset
    • Data-driven approach to understanding policy & nuances
    • Strong interest in using technical tools for analysis of processes
    • CRM experience (Salesforce, Zendesk)
  • Nice to have:
    • Technical Know-How:
      • SQL
      • Google Sheets, Excel, etc.

Target Experience 

  • 3 years of project management as a Trust and Safety Operation Manager, Policy Manager, or Safety Lead
  • 1-2 years people management

This is a full time role and while we do strongly prefer folks living in Eastern Time Zones, we are open to folks living along the West Coast (PST) or Central (CST) region as the role will be remote. Our team is high impact, low ego, and has an amazing culture to be part of.

Change.org is a global company, and salaries are adjusted for cost of labor in each city. For example, the annual salary of a Trust & Safety Operations Manager is $96,000 in New York City, would be $91,000 in Washington D.C., or $80,000 in Charlotte, NC. In exceptional circumstances, we may offer below the listed salary for high potential candidates with less experience, or above it for candidates with significantly more experience.
