Our work enables attorneys across San Francisco to provide the highest caliber representation to the clients and communities which are traditionally underserved and overrepresented in dependency, criminal, and delinquency courts.
The
Program Administrator supports the LRIS Court Programs team to advance juvenile dependency, juvenile delinquency, and criminal defense policies and procedures for the court-appointed attorneys who advocate on behalf of the city's indigent population. This position works primarily with our dependency representation program and reports to the Court Programs Operations Manager. They are responsible for assisting the LRIS Attorney Administrators in supporting and managing multiple projects and initiatives within the department, including the Indigent Defense Administration (IDA) (criminal and delinquency) and the Dependency Representation Program (DRP) (foster care) social worker programs, MCLE training development, federal funding program administration and billing invoice management.

- Coordinates and manages the confidential receipt and distribution of upcoming court appointments to attorneys in the dependency representation program;
- Coordinates and manages the program submission forms and referrals and appointments for authorization of Court appointed Family Engagement Specialists and Social Workers in Dependency cases;
- Under the supervision of the Attorney Administrator and Multidisciplinary Representation Administrator, assists with meetings, trainings, program development and policy and procedures in dependency cases;
- Assists with receipt and initial review of compensation requests;
- Under the direction of the Attorney Administrator, reviews and coordinates bill review for compliance with billing guidelines and billing program requirements;
- Contacts panel attorneys regarding routine bill corrections, maintains accurate and complete records of corrections;
- Contacts Superior Court regarding vendor notifications from those submitting compensation requests;
- Handles and documents clerical and mathematical corrections to compensation requests;
- Maintains files for attorney, investigator, social workers, paralegals and expert witness bills;
- Assists panel members and other vendors with routine technical aspects of billing program;
- Assists the Director of Court Programs, Attorney Administrators and Court Appointments Program Manager with statistical evaluation of bills and budgets for the Dependency Representation Program;
- Assists in preparing reports to the State, and the Superior Court;
- Assists with MCLE development, including drafting of description and speaker bios, working closely with the speakers and the BASF's CLE Department and by monitoring and attending trainings.
Education: Bachelor's Degree, or an equivalent combination of relevant education, training, and expertise sufficient to perform the essential duties of the position.
Experience: - Preferred: Minimum of one year of administrative & data entry/record-keeping experience or an equivalent combination of relevant education, training, and expertise sufficient to perform the essential duties of the position;
- Experience coordinating and managing projects under general supervision;
- Familiarity with databases and analysis;
- Experience working with attorneys and/or programs serving the legal needs of the poor preferred;
Prerequisites Skills and Requirements: - Ability to communicate in person, on the telephone, and in writing in a clear and courteous manner;
- Ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills (professional and diplomatic interactions);
- Ability to multi-task in a high volume, fast-paced environment and independently prioritize with high attention to detail, accuracy and speed;
- Ability to produce database reports, perform statistical analysis, and maintain records;
- Ability to work closely and collegially with staff, attorney panel members, non-attorney vendors, volunteers, and court representatives;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Proficiency in general use of database systems, MS Office (Word, Excel, Access), and Adobe Professional are essential to this position;
- Ability to act and succeed as a creative problem solver and team member;
