The Project Accountant I is fully responsible for the accuracy, efficiency and deadline requirements ofaccounting functions on projects. The Project Accountant I reports to the Project Accounting Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Ability to independently and confidentially administer jobs with complex contractual issues.
• Demonstrates detailed understanding of the Accounting System.
• Demonstrates in depth knowledge regarding all contractual terms (Markups, Billing Rates, Fees, Reimbursable/Non-reimbursable costs), setup within the Accounting billing module and related impact on the Company.
• Participates in the initial billing meetings to formalize billing procedures with clients.
• Ensures billings are according to billing terms as signed off by Project Accounting Management.
• Prepares the partial/final billing documents, including G702/G703 documents for signature.
• Ensures billings are submitted according to the deadlines required for the project.
• Follow up with owners to ensure timely collection of Accounts Receivable.
• Maintains electronic billing files for assigned jobs.
• Provides assistance to project management for accounting related matters.
• Independently resolves complex issues with clients/subcontractors.
• Accounts Payable coding, distribution, and data entry of all job-related invoices.
• Review/request lien waiver documents from vendors/subcontractors.
• Creates weekly check runs through appropriate system and notifies Controller for signature.
• Disburses payments to subcontractors, ensuring all lien waivers are in place and properly executed.
• Provides year-end support of auditor requirements, which may include research and reconcilement.
• Identifies and implements process improvements.
• Performs other accounting functions as assigned by Project Accounting Supervisor.
