JOB SUMMARY:
The Medical Assistant is responsible for the training and evaluation of clinical staff and other assigned personnel, and is responsible for demonstrating a high-level of knowledge, clinical proficiency and professionalism. Assists new employees with transition into clinical environment and provides skills traiings to existing employees in order to ensure safe and high-quality patient care. Uses sciences of nursing, technology, research and evidence-based practice to develop clinical and support staff to support quality improvement. The Medical Assistant promotes and supports the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) primary care model.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides educational leadership to care providers to enhance patient care within established clinical protocols.Collaborates with medical providers, patient care staff, and management in the planning, implementation, and delivery of educational curricula.Initiates clinical skills development programs within the parameters of established clinical models; monitors trends and implements educational strategies to ensure compliance with quality standards and parameters.Educates technical and patient care staff in the use of new equipment, supplies, and instruments; coordinates in-service training and workshops for appropriate staff.Instructs, teaches and supports the employee who is learning a new skill or is in a new position.Works closely with the learner, watches and coaches in skill application.Provides individualized instruction and support.Generates interest in subject matter and presents information with clarity.Encourages critical thinking and problem-solving, and identifies growth opportunities.Coordinates with administration to find areas of training needed and formulate plans on how to implement training.Assists performing assessment and ongoing competency for clinic staff.Engages in problem-solving, team building and incorporating changes due to organizational needs.Ensures training complies with standards of safety and infection control.Serves as a mentor by meeting with new hires at regular intervals throughout initial period and offers guidance and reassurance.Promotes the Patient Centered Medical Home model of the healthcare team working with the patient to achieve improved healthcare outcomes.Demonstrate competence with patients aged 0 and older.Participate in the agency’s Quality Improvement Program.Performs other duties as required.
