About CMFCAA 

The Central Missouri Foster Care & Adoption Association is a not-for-profit agency that educates, supports, and advocates for foster, adoptive, & kinship children, youth, & families in central Missouri by offering services & partnering with community & governmental agencies to develop healthy & self-sufficient individuals & families.

Founded in 2007 by a former foster youth, foster parents, and adoptive parents, the CMFCAA is a community service organization that provides for the needs of foster, adoptive, kinship, and guardianship youth and families. What began as a small support group has grown into a multifaceted organization that provides direct support, education, services and advocacy to foster and adoptive families in a 24-county central Missouri region.

Currently, we are assisting over 640 foster families, over 1400 foster children, over 400 adopted children in our service area. Our goal is to be a support to the families, children and youth in this area, and we work tirelessly to provide much needed services to them.

Position Summary

Welcome to the job summary for the Human Resource Generalist. CMFCAA is seeking a Human Resource Generalist to join our team! The generalist will monitor and perform various Human Resource functions. 

To be successful in this role, you should understand the basics of recruiting, hiring, good employee engagement, employee records maintenance, and employee engagement on HR-related topics. Attention to detail is a must.

The goal is to ensure the HR department’s operation runs smoothly and effectively to deliver maximum value to the agency. 

Essential Functions/Job Expectations 

  • Guide hiring leads in the hiring process including scheduling, facilitating, and participating in interviews 
  • Conduct phone screens and reference checks 
  • Assist with the enrollment and administration of all employee benefits. 
  • Assist with the maintenance and compliance of HR records 
  • Timely response to employee queries 
  • Staying up to date with changes in labor legislation 
  • Assist with investigations
  • Promote HR programs to create an efficient and conflict-free workplace 
  • Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies throughout the agency 
  • Conduct background checks and employee eligibility verifications 
  • Performs other duties as assigned 

Qualifications/Credentials 

  • Previous HR Generalist (preferred) 
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or relevant experience (preferred)
  • Knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Hands on experience with HRIS system (preferred) 
  • HR certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred but not required.
  • Understanding of labor legislation 
  • Reliable Transportation Required 
  • Valid Driver's license 
  • Background checks are required
