Annual Salary: $50,016.00
Technically difficult position, assisting in the personnel administration activities for State Schools. Must exercise considerable independent judgment and discretion in contacts with personnel and in making advanced decisions of determination involving the application of rules.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The incumbent must have the ability to perform the essential functions below either with or without reasonable accommodation.
1. Initiate and perform the payroll duties for all personnel actions, which include full-time and temporary new employees, promotions, transfers, probationary increases, leave without pay, terminations and retirements.
2. Process payroll deductions.
3. Review staff attendance timesheets.
4. Oversee additional/overtime data completed by area offices.
5. Calculate individual employee pay distribution.
6. Collect and analyze data for pay adjustments.
7. Meet all required deadlines for timely dissemination of pay to employees.
8. Maintain confidentiality of personnel information.
9. Maintain complex data in several databases and SAM II system. Includes all employment and position information in SAM II, data in personnel database and staff time and leave system.
10. Prepare related payroll and personnel forms.
11. Administer the leave policies and the computerized leave system.
12. Maintain employee personnel records according to personnel file guidelines.
13. Prepare compensation and classification reports, demographic reports, and other personnel-related reports as need for HR School Specialist and/or Superintendent.
14. Verify accuracy of payroll checks.
15. Maintain an effective working relationship with the employees.
16. Ability to work independently.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide training related to payroll and procedures to area office administrative assistants and central office timekeepers.
2. Maintain staff information and statistical data.
3. Assume duties for Personnel Section in absence of HR School Specialist.
4. Be on time to work and maintain a good attendance record.
5. Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION REQUIRED/PREFERRED:
1. A bachelor’s degree in business management, human resources, personnel, business administration, or related areas.
2. Two years of previous work and/or supervision, technical experience in a State of Missouri human resource operation implementing payroll, benefits, workers’ compensation, retirement and similar programs may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree.
(Other qualifications and experience which, in the opinion of the Commissioner of Education, meet the requirements of the position may be accepted in lieu of the above.)
