POSITION SUMMARY
The position of the Staff Accountant for the Center for Organ Recovery & Education (CORE) is one of moderate responsibility. The Staff Accountant works under the direction of the Center’s Controller and Chief Financial Officer. As with all CORE employees; however, ultimate supervisory responsibility is by the President/CEO. He/She will be involved in all aspects of the accounting cycle including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, cost reports, miscellaneous correspondence, special project mostly related to automation and innovation, account reconciliations, monthly detail for journal entries, and donor activity reporting.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY
The Staff Accountant of the Center for Organ Recovery and Education will play a major role in process improvement and automation of manual functions in the department. The Staff Accountant is also responsible for preparing administrative expenses for processing; review of accounts payable and accounts receivable activity; preparation of correspondence to various vendors regarding payment status of donor-related invoices; filing; maintenance of various Excel spreadsheets used for Medicare supporting documentation; donor log maintenance; account reconciliations; special projects; providing monthly detail for journal entries; monthly closing support; and uploading of information to the donor chart. He/She may be assigned other job-related functions, from time to time, by the Controller, Chief Financial Officer or President/CEO.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
The incumbent for the position of Staff Accountant is required to have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, a minor or concentration in Information Technology is preferred. A minimum of 2 years’ experience in Accounting is required. He/She must have demonstrated experience in process improvement by transitioning manual functions to automated platforms and the ability to work with accounting and other business software. He/She will have some experience in Project Management. He/She must be highly skilled in Excel and accounting software (preferably Great Plains). He/She must have the ability to work with financial and numeric data and must be very detail oriented. He/She must have the ability to work in a sometimes hectic office environment. He/She should have sound judgment and be able to get along with all types of individuals. He/She must have demonstrated professional commitment. He/She must be able to maintain confidentiality.
