Center City Public Charter Schools is Hiring a Long-Term Substitute Teacher Near Washington, DC

Grades: Pre K – 8th Grade

Direct Supervisor/s: Principal, Assistant Principal

This is an hourly, full-time, temporary position, with benefits. Please see below for general responsibilities and qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver daily effective instruction
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of resources, student needs, curriculum, content, and pedagogy
  • Administer student assessments as needed
  • Create an environment of respect and rapport
  • Establish a culture of learning
  • Manage classroom procedures and student behavior
  • Communicate directions, expectations, procedures, and content with students
  • Engage students in learning with quality questioning and discussion techniques
  • Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness
  • Communicate respectfully and effectively with parents and families as needed
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records
  • Supervise children across multiple settings (classroom, enrichment, lunch, recess)
  • Participate in the Center City PCS learning community via PLC’s, campus/district professional development, and weekly campus-based grade-level planning sessions
  • Reflect on teaching by accepting ongoing informal feedback and implement changes based on that feedback
  • Following school-wide procedures for attire, behavior, and punctuality (teacher hours are 8:00AM - 4:00PM)

Qualifications

  • High School Degree or equivalent
  • References that reflect high standing with past employer
  • Able to lift up to 10 pounds and able to stand for long hours
  • Must be able to show proof of full vaccination against COVID-19

Benefits

This is an full-time, temporary, hourly position at a rate of $25.00 an hour
