Reports to: Director of Therapeutic Services

Location: La Grange, KY (approx. 30 minutes from Louisville, KY)

What you’ll do:

The Speech Language Pathologist shall function as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team and as a member of the Therapeutic Services staff. The Speech Language Pathologist has overall responsibility for the planning, development, implementation, delivery, and monitoring of speech and language programs and coordination of audiological and dysphagia services for the individuals we support. The Speech Language Pathologist will implement, when appropriate, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems, both low-tech and high-tech, for the individuals that we support.

  • The development, implementation, hands on delivery, monitoring, and recording of progress of individual speech, and language program plans that are designed to develop and maximize each individual's functional communication skills. They shall define therapy priorities in coordination with the Interdisciplinary Team.
  • Consult, work with, and train staff, as appropriate, to maximize coordination of goals and to promote continuity within each individual's program.
  • Provide initial (and annually thereafter) individualized diagnostic evaluations for each individual. This written assessment shall include therapy needs and specific recommendations for intervention and shall be presented during each individual's annual meeting for inclusion in the IDT summary.
  • Coordinate services for an annual audiological screening for each individual, make referrals for audiological testing, and follow up as appropriate. Appropriate documentation shall be entered in the individual's record. Monitor individual hearing aids and make referrals for prompt repair/replacement as needed. Schedule appointments and accompany individuals for hearing tests and services.
  • Speech Language Pathologist shall be a member/chairperson of the Dysphagia Team, contributing to evaluation and services for individuals with eating/feeding problems.
  • Attendance at and active participation in individual’s annual meetings as assigned.
  • Attendance at Suite Meetings, as appropriate.
  • Attend staff meetings and individual meetings with supervisor as scheduled.
  • Attend and participate in training/in-services as scheduled and appropriate. Present staff/individual in-services as requested.
  • Train employees through participation in New Employee Orientation and on-going training sessions/opportunities.
  • Monitor expenditures and stay within budget guidelines.
  • Proper documentation/notes and submission of activity log to billing department.
  • Assist with the supervision of individuals on field trips, outings, etc., as assigned.
  • Work cooperatively with medical, nursing, therapy, and other staff to coordinate and deliver services to the individuals we support.
  • Perform other related work as assigned.

What sets you apart:

  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record is required.
  • Master’s Degree
  • Licensed by the Commonwealth of Kentucky as a Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Holds certification with the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA). Will consider strong CFY candidates.
  • One year experience (preferred) practicing as a Speech Language Pathologist.
  • One year experience (preferred) working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

What your typical schedule looks like:

  • Full-time, Hourly, 40 hours per week. Some flexibility is required to meet the needs of the individuals we support, and to provide staff training for all shifts.
