CCA - Independent Doctors of Optometry is Hiring a Front Office Receptionist/ Optometric Technician/ Medical Assistant Near Tampa, FL

Looking for a optometric technician / Paraoptometric for our practice (Independent Doctors of Optometry within a commercial setting).

Optometric Technicians or Paraoptometrics are allied health personnel who assist optometrists in providing their highest level of vision care to patients. Front office procedures, chair-side assisting, pre-testing and contact lens instruction are just a few of the many duties paraoptometrics perform while working directly with an optometrist. Paraoptometrics play a valuable role in providing quality eye care to each patient who enters the office.

Essential Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage front desk - answering phones, patient questions, checking patients in and out, collecting payments, and scheduling appointments.
  • Learn and understand managed vision care plans and explaining plan and benefits to patients.
  • Pull authorizations for insurances prior to appointments.
  • Posting and filing insurances after appointments.
  • Manage and handle patient flow within the practice.
  • Scanning and entering patient data into electronic medical records (EMR) system.
  • Perform preliminary testing on patients.
  • Order, dispense and organize trial contact lenses.
  • Patient instruction on insertion, removal, cleaning and care of contact lenses.
  • Adhering to all HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality.

Qualified Candidates will possess the following:

  • High School Diploma, General Education Diploma (GED) or equivalent related job experience
  • Communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Ability to multi-task and have high attention to detail.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret insurance forms
  • Experience and proficiency with computers
  • Must be available to work weekends
  • EXPERIENCE PREFERRED but willing to train the right candidate

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $14.00 - $17.00 per hour
