PRIMARYPURPOSE OF POSITION
Reporting to the CEO,you will work closely with the leadership team, external consultants, auditors,and investment managers to direct all aspects of organizational finance as wellas to develop policies and procedures to support the organization’s mission andvalues.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the CEO, the Finance Directorwill be responsible for oversight of all finance, accounting and reportingactivities, supporting presentations to the board regarding financial matters,and will work closely with the senior leadership team.
The Finance Director will lead all day-to-dayfinance operations of a current budget of $2.3 million (and growing) withfunctional responsibility over accounting, accounts payable, accountsreceivable, and grants administration. The Finance Director will ensure thatOutdoor Afro has the systems and procedures in place to support effectiveprogram implementation and conduct flawless audits. The Finance Director willwork closely with program and operations leaders and staff, not only to educatethem regarding finance and accounting procedures but also to explore how thefinance function can support programs and operations.
In addition, the Finance Director will partnerwith senior leadership, and the human resources (HR) and operations staff toenhance and better integrate finance, HR, and IT functions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Finance and Accounting Leadership
●Oversee all accounts, ledgers, andreporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards andregulatory requirements.
●Manage internal control andsafeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actualexpenditures.
●Manage all audit activity.
●Oversee and analyze financial dataand present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearlycommunicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitorprogress and changes and keep the board, CEO, and key staff abreast of OutdoorAfro’s financial status.
●Direct annual budgeting andplanning process; administer and review all financial plans and compare toactual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances asappropriate.
●Support the CEO and ExecutiveDirector in engaging the board and relevant committees around issues and trendsin financial operating models and delivery.
●Oversee all financial,project/program and grants accounting; ensure that expenditures areconsistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fundperiod; collate financial reporting materials for government, corporate, andfoundation grants.
●Manage organizational cash flowforecasting by working in partnership with operational and program leadership;continuously collaborate with program leadership to assess the financialefficacy of program operations and establish finance and administrative systemsto support program operations.
●Manage and track the performanceof invested assets in keeping with policies and investment guidelines.
Team Leadership
●Provide leadership instrengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout theorganization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
This is an extraordinary opportunity for amature leader with seven to ten years of accounting and finance experience,ideally beginning in accounting and audit, followed by experience gathering,evaluating, presenting and reporting financial information to executive teamsand external stakeholders.
Specific requirements include:
●Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree inaccounting, MBA preferred.
●Minimum of 7 years of managementexperience in nonprofit finance required.
●Personal qualities of integrityand credibility; demonstrated core values in alignment with gratitude andservice; and unwavering commitment to Outdoor Afro’s mission.
●A proactive, hands-on strategicthinker who will own the responsibility for finance
●Demonstrated experience managingorganizational audit activities
●Solid experience managingreporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable,general ledger, payroll, and accounting for investments
●A track record in grantsmanagement as it relates to compliance and reporting of government, corporateand foundation grants is essential
●Technology savvy with advancedknowledge of accounting and reporting software including but not limited toExcel, QuickBooks and Bill.com; advanced knowledge or experience working inMicrosoft Office and GSuite; experience with donor management software (e.g.Salesforce or similar) a plus
●Commitment to recruiting,mentoring, training, and retaining a diverse team; the foresight and ability todelegate accordingly
●Keen analytic, organization and problem-solvingskills which allows for strategic data interpretation versus. simple reporting
●Strong interpersonal, written, andverbal communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data,including presentations to senior management, board or other outside partners

REQUIREMENTS
●Ability to travel to Oakland CAheadquarters 2 to 3 days per week.
●Ability to travel out of stateovernight and work evenings and weekends for special events.
●Must own or lease their ownvehicle and possess a driver’s license with a clean driving record.

COMPENSATION
Compensation: Startingbase salary range of $110,000 to $125,000 annually, commensurate withexperience. Outdoor Afro offers a competitive benefits package including 401kwith a safe harbor match, medical, dental, life, healthcare FSA, and paid timeoff.
