Catholic Charities of Central and Northern... is Hiring a Director of Counseling Services Near Jefferson City, MO

The Director of Counseling Services is responsible for the administrative and clinical direction of Catholic Charities of Central and Northern Missouri’s faith-based counseling program. Provide direct leadership to program staff, including, but not limited to staff coaching, training, accountability and evaluation; programmatic quality and quality assurance measures, and is responsible for some direct service provision. This role reports to the Director of Programs and Services.

Possesses a strong commitment to the mission of Catholic Charities including the understanding of Catholic Social Teaching and ability to demonstrate the philosophy and values of the agency. The identity of the agency is clearly Catholic. As such, Catholic Charities adheres to the social and moral teachings of the Catholic Church.

Management and Administrative Duties 70%

Clinical Director of Counseling Services:

Leads counseling programs (Individual/Family and School Counseling) toward integration and continuous improvement and oversees the development of training and support systems that both strengthen skills and respond to internal and external accountability requirements.

Leads the process for program outcomes, reporting and representing agency in meetings, leads the process of program accreditation for Council on Accreditation (COA).

Participates as a member of the CCCNMO Management Team.

Oversee staff monthly goal compliance, training, and annual staff evaluations.

Assure that clients ‘needs are met to the highest degree possible to meet internal and external

expectations (case assignment, schools, staff leaves, waiting list, non-traditional hours etc.).

Clinical Supervisor:

Provide ongoing clinical supervision to other Independent licensed staff. This may include group and/or individual supervision.

Maintain an ongoing review of therapeutic services provided by supervised staff, including a quarterly review of service plans for ongoing cases and review of cases that are terminated.

Licensed Clinical Social Worker Supervisor:

Provide, over approximately a three (3) year period, the required hours of clinical supervision to staff certified social workers as outlined in the Social Work State Boards. The norm is generally one hour per week of individual supervision, per supervisee, but varies depending on the specific state board requirements and group hours provided by the trainer.

Individual/Family/School Counseling Direct Service Provider: 30%

Provide counseling within the outpatient and school based programs. Sessions will include screening, assessment, and therapy, with appropriate referral and follow up as needed per client.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Responsible for the supervision of all Counseling Program staff, interns, and volunteers.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Master’s degree in counseling, psychology or clinical social work with training in trauma and with a minimum of five years’ clinical counseling experience.

Licensed Clinical Social Worker – Supervisor by the State of Missouri Social Work Board, or supervisor certification eligible.

Management/Supervisory experience required, minimum three to five years related experience preferred.

Experience with diverse populations including children, adults, couples, and families, those with mental illness and substance use disorders, life transitions, all income levels, various cultural backgrounds.

Experience with DSM 5.

Performs all the duties of an independent therapist and demonstrates an ability to work independently as well as collaborating with other staff.

Practicing Roman Catholic.

Computer Skills

Demonstrates proficient computer skills and familiarity of Microsoft Office software applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Exhibits good listening and comprehension skills; seeks clarification when needed and selects and uses appropriate communication methods. Ability to communicate and interact with a wide variety of people having diverse social concerns and problems. Ability to communicate the mission and services of Catholic Charities both within the agency and community.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals utilizing proper English, grammar, punctuation and spelling; proofreads with accuracy and completeness to produce documents requiring minimal revisions by others. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, managers, clients, and the public. Ability to respond professionally to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. May require ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Missouri or eligible for licensure in Missouri. Licensed Clinical Social Work Supervisor or eligible for supervisor.

Other Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of standard office procedures including alphabetic and numeric filing, mail processing, and record keeping. Ability to meet deadlines by effectively planning, organizing and prioritizing work assignments while managing frequent interruptions. Knowledge and ability to operate various office machines including: computer, printer, copier, scanner, fax machine, telephone, and calculator.

Other Qualifications

Ability to successfully pass a child abuse registry check and criminal background check, and requires completion of the Protecting God’s Children VIRTUS training session.

Licensed to operate a motor vehicle and ability to meet agency auto insurance coverage requirements. Local and limited state-wide travel required.

This position requires the ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.

The work of Catholic Charities serves as an expression of the ministry of evangelization of the Roman Catholic Church by serving the poor and most vulnerable in our society. Although staff are not to proselytize, they are, however, expected to be guided in every way by the teachings of the Catholic faith in their daily work. These include church teachings on abortion, sterilization, abstinence, and the sanctity of the family as well as fidelity to the Catholic ethical religious directive of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. In addition, all staff are invited to attend periodic Catholic Masses. As employees of Catholic Charities, it is further expected that staff will adhere to the Diocesan code of conduct. Employees are expected to not only perform duties consistent with the Doctrines of the Catholic faith, but outside of the workplace they are expected to refrain from publishing any communication in any form, electronic or otherwise, that affiliates them with Catholic Charities in a manner that is inconsistent with the doctrine of the Roman Catholic faith.
