Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans is Hiring a Community engagement Near Metairie, LA

Job Responsibilities : The Community Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for the development and management of strategies to engage community (clients, partners, supporters).

S / he will work to ensure identification of resources, produce educational materials and coordination of services for vulnerable immigrant clients through community outreach, coordination with partners, referrals, and data management to ensure effective and holistic client care and representation.

This position is also in charge of supervising triage, information line and reception to ensure the community seeking services is supported through appropriate referrals and in a trauma informed manner.

This position will also support the legal team in a number of activities and assist as needed to support services provided to clients.

Outreach is a communication bridge between CCANO's programs and community groups, service providers, institutions, and community member aiming to builds partnerships, share information, and connect people to supportive services.

We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills with experience in community outreach, organized with the ability to multitask and support our various programs.

Community Engagement responsibilities include but are not limited to :

Outreach & Communications (25% Effort)

  • Conduct regular outreach with community partners to maintain and develop group programming and community referrals for clients.
  • Develops and support relationships with catholic parishes as well as with other faith-based organizations and programs.
  • Provides regular updates to program staff, CCANO programs and community collaborators as well as shares or host and develop content for program social media page (in coordination of advancement)
  • Coordinate services with key stakeholders - Includes liaising and building a network of relationships with other professionals, paraprofessionals, legal, and social service providers and establish standard protocols and referral procedures to ensure holistic care and ongoing monitoring.
  • Represents the agency at events, coalitions meetings and taskforces, participate in community outreach events which may include talks, presentations, resource fairs and interviews.

Information, Reception, Triage and Info Lines (25% Effort)

  • Manage staff associated with reception and triage.
  • Supports and provides information for the Information lines and reception.
  • Develops strategies to improve services and information offered through triage and reception.
  • Maintains partner and services database and legal referrals list.

Responsibilities to Legal Services (20% Effort)

  • Assist immigration legal services with logistics and coordination of group-based client activities such as community orientation (CO)
  • Develops and offers Know Your Rights (KYR) presentations.
  • Trains staff and volunteers to provide (KYR) presentations.
  • Helps organized and implement monthly to weekly legal clinics overseeing the day operations, coordination of staff providing services and clients' needs during these events.

Responsibilities to Refugee Services (20% Effort)

  • Assist refugee services with logistics and coordination of group-based client activities such as community orientation.
  • Lead virtual New Asylee Benefits Orientations each month.
  • Manage private, community donations and maintains records of donations.
  • Lead communications with external partners including donors, landlords, collaborative community agencies, etc.

Responsibilities to ESL (10% Effort)

  • Assist recruiting ESL and Family literacy volunteers.
  • Supports ESL during enrollment and testing as needed.
  • Assist coordinating engagement activities and events for ESL.

Other task and responsibilities :

  • Assist with data entry and monthly, quarterly and annual reporting.
  • Supports reporting base on specific task and project.
  • Participated in funding strategies development and grant writing for activities related to the position.

Qualifications : Applicants that are self-motivated, engaging, and organized. Must have excellent communications skills, knowledge of the community.

Applicants with interest in legal or social services, legal or social policy and practice, or immigrant and refugee issues highly encouraged to apply.

  • Good knowledge of relevant community resources in the Greater New Orleans area and beyond.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and ability to learn immigration database / software.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English (verbal and written) required.
  • Degree in relevant legal or social science field from an accredited institution preferred; Highschool diploma required,
  • Proven experience in community outreach or community education, program coordination, management and supervision
  • Experience collecting data and reporting on specific task and outcomes.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, including maintaining effective work relationships.
  • Strong management and organizational skills, and ability to work across all levels of management and staff.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including culturally competent and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with a culturally diverse population and sensitivity to the special needs of multi-cultural immigrant children, adults, and families.
  • Ability to work independently to manage a substantial workload with deadline pressures.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for a fast-paced and high-volume environment.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, insurance, a clean driving record, and personal transportation. Position may require local and long-distance travel and ability to travel with limited notice.
  • Duties require some evening and weekend events.
