Job Summary: As a Testing and Transition Coordinator, you will play a vital role in facilitating the weekly testing sessions with numerous students from different levels of language proficiency at the same time. Responsible for smooth testing sessions for individuals undergoing significant life changes in adult education, such as transitioning from one stage of education to another and breaking the barriers of language. Testing is key to maintaining our standards and building the data we need to show results and meet our goals, with grantors. Testing offers the transition to relocating to new levels of education. Your primary responsibility will be to support individuals in navigating these transitions by providing guidance, resources, and personalized assistance tailored to their unique needs and circumstances using our testing and data platforms.

Duties/Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Client Assessment and Needs Analysis:
    • Conduct thorough assessments to understand clients' backgrounds, strengths, challenges, and transition goals.
    • Identify individualized needs and preferences to develop tailored transition plans.
  • Transition Planning and Coordination:
    • Collaborate with clients to set achievable transition goals and milestones.
    • Develop comprehensive testing and transition plans outlining necessary steps, timelines, and resources.
    • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders, such as educators, employers, social services, and community organizations, to facilitate a seamless transition process.
  • Resource Provision and Referral:
    • Provide information, guidance, and referrals to relevant support services, including educational programs, vocational training, employment opportunities, housing options, and healthcare services.
    • Assist clients in accessing tutoring assistance, and other resources to support their challenges.
  • Advocacy and Empowerment:
    • Advocate clients to understand the importance of post-testing.
    • Empower clients to advocate for themselves by providing education on self-advocacy strategies and skills.
  • Skill Development and Training:
    • Offer training and workshops to develop essential skills for successful transition, such as job readiness, financial literacy, communication, and problem-solving.
    • Provide coaching and support to enhance clients' confidence and self-efficacy in navigating transitions.
  • Progress Monitoring and Evaluation:
    • Regularly assess clients' progress toward transition goals and adjust plans as needed.
    • Track and document outcomes and milestones achieved throughout the transition process.
  • Collaborative Teamwork:
    • Collaborate with colleagues and external partners to ensure holistic support for clients.
    • Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and interdisciplinary collaborations to coordinate services effectively.

Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Sitting, Standing, Walking, Talking, and working on a computer. Must be able to lift fifteen pounds at times. Physical Demands: Sedentary physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative nature.

  1. Stand less than 33% of the time on duty.
  2. Walk less than 33% of the time on duty.
  3. Sit between 33% and 66% of the time on duty.
  4. Use of hands to finger, handle, or feel over 66% of the time on duty.
  5. Reach with hands or arms less than 33% of the time.
  6. Full ability to talk and hear.
  7. Correctable vision required.
  8. Able to lift/carry up to 15 lbs.

Minimum Educational and General Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, education, or a related field (master's degree preferred).
  • Previous experience in transition services, case management, counseling, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of human development, transitions theory, and relevant social services.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and demonstrate cultural competency. Knowledge of community resources, support networks, and referral processes.
  • Proficiency in documentation, record-keeping, and data management. Compassion, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting individuals through accomplishing goals with the use of testing tools and transitions.
  • Experience with CASAS eTests and WorkReadyU client database is a plus or must be willing to learn the database/software. Have reliable transportation.
