PURPOSE OF POSITION

We are seeking a motivated and talented college student to join our team as a Summer Intern. This internship offers hands-on experiences in various aspects of clerical support, community engagement, and communication. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with our Community Engagement Specialist, Clinic Coordinator, and Clinic Director and may also have opportunities to work with members of our communications team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Patient Facing

  • Greet and assist patients upon arrival at the clinic.
  • Answering phone calls and responding to inquiries from patients and other healthcare professionals in a professional manner.
  • Direct inquiries to appropriate team members.

Administrative Functions:

  • Assist with data collection and entry. This may include a focus on patient satisfaction data or clinic statistical data.

Community Outreach

  • Collaborate with the Community Outreach Specialist to develop creative strategies to reach target populations and increase community engagement.
  • Conduct research on community resources to inform outreach efforts.
  • Assist in developing outreach materials, including flyers, brochures, and social media content.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative working relationships with other community-based organizations, CSU, and parishes for advocacy, education, resource development, and public relations.

Event Coordination:

  • Assist Community Outreach Specialist in planning, organizing, and promoting community events, workshops, and health classes/fairs.
  • Assist Community Outreach Specialists in coordinating logistics for events, including securing venues, arranging catering, and managing event registration.
  • Work with volunteers and staff to ensure the smooth execution of events and activities.

Community Partnerships:

  • Attend community meetings, networking events, and outreach activities to represent our organization and build connections.

Outreach Campaigns:

  • Assist in developing and implementing outreach campaigns to promote specific programs, services, or initiatives.
  • To disseminate information and engage the community, utilize various outreach channels, including social media, email newsletters, and community publications.
  • Track and evaluate the effectiveness of outreach efforts, including monitoring attendance, collecting feedback, and analyzing engagement metrics.

Education and Advocacy:

  • Provide information and resources to community members about our organization’s mission, programs, and services.
  • Advocate for issues relevant to our organization’s mission, such as maternal and child health, access to healthcare, and health equity.
  • Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills related to community outreach and advocacy.

Office Maintenance:

  • Assist with maintaining cleanliness and organization in the office reception area and waiting room.
  • Stock and organize office supplies, including forms, brochures, and patient education materials.
  • Notify appropriate staff members of any maintenance or repair needs in the office.

Quality

  • Enters data and facilitates the generation of monthly reports.
  • Maintains accurate and timely program statistical data to meet reporting requirements.
  • Assist with data entry tasks, including updating patient clinical and experiential information.

Special Projects:

  • Assist with special projects and initiatives as assigned by Clinic Director or Clinic Coordinator
  • Participate in meetings and brainstorming sessions to contribute ideas for improving office efficiency and patient satisfaction.

Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills and be self-motivated.
  • Basic knowledge of computers to input information, maintain client and program data, and create communications.
  • Ability to interact effectively as a team member and independently with Agency staff and with a diverse client base.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university program, preferably in a field related to healthcare administration, business, communications/marketing, or a related field

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

Salary: $17.20 - $20.00 / Hourly

Schedule: Part-time, 30 hours per week, Mon-Fri. (Temporary)
