CATALOG, a Boston-based pioneering startup, is making significant strides in the field of data storage and computation by harnessing the power of DNA. DNA, known for its millennia-long stability, unrivaled information density, and cost-effective replicability, offers revolutionary potential for latency-tolerant high-density data storage and massively parallel computation.  We are in pursuit of an experienced Intellectual Property Manager to spearhead our intellectual property strategies, ensuring robust protection and compliant collaborations.

In this role you will:

• Establish and enforce guidelines to protect inventions and intellectual property.
• Foster collaborative relationships with external parties while ensuring all interactions are covered under appropriate NDAs.
• Act as the primary point of contact for guidance on IP matters.
• Ensure swift filing of provisional applications to secure initial IP rights.
• Oversee adherence to IP policy across all departments and projects.
• Facilitate technology transfer through a structured office environment.
• Handle physical security measures for the lab, including access controls.
• Lead the drafting and reviewing of grant proposals, showcasing impeccable writing skills.
• Act as a pivotal bridge between technical departments and legal, streamlining the translation of scientific insights and business needs for strategic IP considerations.
• Collaborate proactively with both legal and technical teams to consistently advance IP filings and foster collaborative partnerships.

We are looking with someone with experience in the following areas:

• A background in operational or project management roles, ideally within a technology transfer office setting.
• Experience in working closely with scientists and understanding the bridge between science and law.
• Drafting intellectual property documents, with a capacity to swiftly pen down provisional applications.
• Patent Agent experience is an bonus, though not mandatory.

• A Master’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Research experience, bringing along a comprehensive understanding of the innovation landscape.
• The capability to understand and translate complex technical concepts into legally protective documentation.
• A knack for meticulous planning, ensuring all IP related activities are conducted in compliance with legal standards.
