CAT I GLASS MANUFACTURING is Hiring a Quality Inspector Near South Elgin, IL
- Perform inspections of incoming material and manufactured components using testing equipment.
- Inspect finished product according to our surface quality criteria identifying and separating defects so they do not go to our customers.
- Rework or reject finished products as required.
- Conduct and document process and system audits using written procedures as audit standards.
- Accurately document the results of the inspections and testing.
- Maintain all controlled document files and test records in a timely and accurate manner.
- Evaluate problems and recommend possible corrective action to the supervisor.
- Work with production management and Quality Assurance to provide feedback and training to employees regarding the accuracy of production procedures.
- Perform assembly, manufacturing, and packing tasks as required.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions in English
- Ability to write basic communication to understand on-the-job work standards in English
- Ability to effectively present information in a one-on-one and/or small group.
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Good arithmetic (basic math) skills are required
- Working knowledge of measurement instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and optical comparators.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 5 years of quality inspection in a manufacturing environment required
- Mechanical aptitude desired
- Ability to work on your feet in a fast-paced open-air manufacturing environment
- The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and stoop.
- The employee must regularly lift, push, and/or move over 30 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear, repetitively.
- Perform job duties in an office environment by operating basic office equipment; fax machine, scanner, copier, desktop computer, phone.

EPG started out producing automotive air conditioning sight glasses in a barn and eventually grew into a thriving business housed in a new 144,000 square foot building. EPG was sold in the late eighties but the concepts endured. In 1995, Cat-i Glass Manufacturing emerged to carry on the EPG mission.
