Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare is Hiring a 20145 - Mental Health Aide I or II (Secure - Swing - Per Diem) Near Portland, OR

This is a Per Diem position, such that the incumbent will be available on call to cover day, swing and/or overnight shifts that come available; it is required that the incumbent cover 12 shifts per quarter in this role. Secure Residential programs consist of three locations that are located in NE Portland and further out SE Portland. Per Diem positions include a $2 pay differential. Both Swing and overnight shifts are provided with a shift pay differential in addition to the hourly wage when clocking in.

Secure Residential Treatment Programs serve adults living with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI) who have a history of institutionalizing in the state hospital system. They are transitional facilities with a goal to help residents become more independent. Due to the high level of support for the residents, these programs have a higher level of staffing.

Secure Residential Treatment Specialist work as a member of an interdisciplinary team to implement and monitor treatment for residents within the residential facility. This position involves participation and implementation of program goals and objectives to promote a strengths-based, client centered approach to assisting residents in achieving individual goals and ultimately transitioning to a less restrictive setting. The work requires one to stay awake and aware on all shifts.

All incumbents must understand, appreciate and respect the diversity and cultural differences within our Cascadia community. It is expected that there is an awareness and sensitivity to the perspectives and perceptions to those we serve, as well as our colleagues. As Cascadia is Trauma informed, the incumbent must support a Trauma Informed Care Environment. With the high prevalence of trauma among individuals receiving behavioral health services, it is required that the incumbent understand the effects of trauma on health, coping, and other aspects of the lives of those we serve.

On the first of the month, following 60 days of employment, benefit eligible employees (20/hrs. or more per week) are able to enjoy affordable, low cost, medical, dental, and vision benefits. Essential Duties

This position description is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of responsibilities or an all inclusive job description.

* Provide support with activities of daily living such as self-care, grooming and accompany residents to appointments if necessary.

* Lead skills training groups: I.e. cooking groups, writing groups, social skill groups, etc. (the fun part is bringing in your creativity)

* Assigned to one or two residents as a Primary Treatment Coordinator and you will have the opportunity to work with Case Managers in supporting residents with their support plans.

* Overnight positions may have the opportunity research and learn more clinical knowledge or terms and will provide more support in house hold chores since this can be a quieter time. Ultimately, it will depend on the program needs.

* Help with household chores

* Medication management and medication documentation

* Electronic record documentation that will includes progress notes as well as any notes or report pertaining to critical incidences

* Assist in crisis situations as appropriate, following emergency protocols and procedures. Have the ability and be prepared to assist with avoidance preventing escalation and administering seclusion and restraint techniques as defined in non-violent physical intervention training.

* Demonstrate professional boundaries, abide by HIPPA, and complete required annual trainings.

* Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

* Level I requires no experience

* Compensation: Compensation: 16.98/hr. to 17.98/hr. DOE.

* Level II requires a QMHA: a Bachelor's degree in a behavioral science field from an accredited college or university or three years of full time professional experience working in the mental health related field. (QMHA qualified required) Note: All QMHA positions in the state of Oregon will need to be filled by candidates who are officially QMHA certified or registered with MHACBO. * Compensation: 18.12/hr. to 19.21/hr. DOE

* Having experience working in a residential facility providing direct support is helpful

* Experience working with those living with a sever and persistent mental illness is desired

* Ability to operate computer hardware and software and ability to learn and use electronic health record systems

Working Conditions

* Staff must have the ability to assist residents in participating in a variety of active leisure and recreational events, as well as skill building outings and accessing community resources. These are required to avoid behavioral incidents and volatile situations.

* Must have the ability to assist the team in providing safety to all clients and staff in potentially volatile situations. Staff may be asked to perform non-violent physical interventions, holds, and physical transport of individuals to seclusion rooms, as well as assist in the application of mechanical restraints.

* Occasionally stooping, lifting (20-50 lbs), climbing (stairs), crouching, reaching, and running

* Regularly sitting, walking, standing, and keyboarding

* Constant visual and auditory
