Job Summary
The Banquet Captain is a supervisor role that assists banquet service personnel during set up, execution and tear down of all events to ensure that all details of the planned event are accurately facilitated.
Job Tasks (Duties)
1. Be on the floor, ready to work in full proper uniform (vest and name tag on, hair up, etc) by scheduled in time.
2. Utilize a BEO to assign tasks for other staff members to focus on to successfully execute an event. Work alongside banquet staff to ensure events are set up properly.
3. Cocktail a selection of beverages that changes with each event, including carrying a tray of beverages for passing to guests upon arrival.
4. Lifting of food trays for both food serving and dish bussing.
5. Serving of wine/champagne tableside including proper bottle opening and pouring.
6. Be responsible for a section of tables and guests during a seated event. Duties include filling water, taking beverage orders, and clearing dishes.
7. Perform and delegate closing duties at the end of the event including but not limited to: disposing of used linens, stacking chairs, polishing silverware, tearing down service station, writing daily logs, and locking doors.
Candidate Qualifications
1. Experience in a supervisory position. Food and Beverage experience preferred.
2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a positive and outgoing personality.
3. Ability to multi-task and remain calm when working under pressure in a fast paced environment.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
1. Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch, and twist or reach.
2. Push, pull, or lift up to 50 lbs.
3. Work in hot, humid, or noisy environments.
