Casa Gracia NC is Hiring a Teacher Near Corpus Christi, TX

Teacher

Casa Gracia NC will provide educational services in partnership with the Upbring community that offers a multicultural, safe, and friendly environment where students can successfully learn basic skills and core academic content using English as a Second Language (ESL) strategies. Students will develop and demonstrate individual talents and gifts and develop social competencies that demonstrate citizenship and character.

The Teacher is responsible for providing students with appropriate educational activities and experiences that will assist them in fulfilling their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.

Skills:

  • Working knowledge of federal and state laws regarding Special Needs.
  • Collaboratively plan and co-teach with teachers of English Learners to ensure support that services are aligned with the needs of students. (face-to-face or virtual)
  • Exceptional written and oral communication and appropriate people skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to fulfill all job responsibilities with minimal supervision in a timely manner.
  • Develop student’s English proficiency skills by introducing Survival English Strategies
  • Incorporate Dual Language Strategies while accelerating students’ learning in core content.
  • Provide developmentally appropriate instruction to facilitate the acquisition of English language, literacy, and cognitive academic language and skills.
  • Monitor student progress and attendance.
  • Exercise sound judgment in decision-making, especially under challenging circumstances.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Provide individual and group instruction to assigned classes.
  • Supervise students in the classroom to maintain a positive and effective learning environment.
  • Implement Positive Behavior Intervention Plans.
  • Supervise students throughout the scheduled workday, including school activities like Celebrations of Learning.
  • Follow all school policies and assist with appropriately enforcing established rules and guidelines.
  • Model appropriate language, dress, and behavior for students.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with students, administrators, teachers, and other school staff.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with administrators, CGNC staff, Upbring Staff, and students to ensure they receive quality learning experiences.
  • Work as a team and always exhibit professional behavior and a positive attitude.
  • Actively participate in exhibiting cultural awareness and sensitivity when interacting with children, parent(s)/guardian(s), staff, and the community

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Preferred Master's and Texas ESL Certification).
  • Minimum of one year's experience as a classroom teacher,
  • Experience as an ESOL classroom teacher (experience with refugee/unaccompanied youth)
