Chief Information Officer

The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a unique global network of policy research centers, is seeking a Chief Information Officer (CIO) to be the visionary information and communications technology leader. The CIO develops, executes, and oversees an IT strategy in support of Carnegie's goals, strategies, and programs, including effectively deploying efficient secure technology tools, utilizing the latest technology, and protecting against serious cyber threats.
This position is based in Washington, DC, with an in-office expectation of Tuesday through Thursday, and occasionally more when needed.
Responsibilities include overseeing the stable performance of information communication systems and computer operations in Washington, DC., and Carnegie's overseas centers; evaluating technical or process solutions to meet business needs; implementing and maintaining technology tools; continually improving all facets of information communication systems; ensuring staff can work in a trustworthy ICT environment; evaluating and mitigating potential ICT vulnerabilities and cybersecurity risks; and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, including GDPR.
Managing a small team, the CIO will oversee help desk support and onboarding; network administration both on-premise and in the cloud for all offices; systems support for ICT tools in the cloud and on-premise; backup, business continuity, Disaster recovery ensuring minimal downtime; management of the organization-wide Salesforce CRM; and audio/visual support for in-person events at Carnegie's DC headquarters and virtual events.
A B.A. in a related discipline and a minimum of 8 years of experience in leading enterprise-wide information communications technology projects is strongly preferred. Experience working with international nonprofits is desirable. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other teams across Carnegie; in-depth knowledge of ICT systems and infrastructure and familiarity with advancements in the field; an understanding of cyber security threats and implementation of the strongest protections; excellent organizational and project management skills and attention to detail; strong verbal and written communication skills; and the ability to create, maintain, and update documentation.
