We are currently in search of an Accountant with an organization that specializes in outsourced accounting services for small nonprofits in and around New York City.

POSITION TITLE: Accountant

LOCATION: 100% remote (on-site once a month) North Haledon, NJ

DURATION: Full-time Permanent role

SALARY: $60-70K annually

POSITION SUMMARY:

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and organized Accountant to assist his/her team in reporting and capturing financial transactions into the various financial systems. This job is based predominantly in our Franklin Lakes Office with some potential travel within the New York/New Jersey region.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

OPERATIONAL:

• Process and/or manage payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Ensure accounts receivable and accounts payable are current (less than 90 days)
• Reconcile bank and credit card statements
• Review and post-investment accounts
• Review all uncleared checks and deposits for items over 120 days
• Analyze and prepare financial statements monthly for the Accounting Manager’s/Sr. Accounting Manager’s review
• Manage annual audits and ensure all required schedules are completed timely
• Assist clients with the preparation of Form 990, 1099’s, and other benefit, tax and regulatory schedules
• Perform ad-hoc accounting tasks on an as-needed basis

EDUCATION | SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; or pursing a degree if applying for internship position
• Knowledge of nonprofit accounting a plus
• Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Computer literacy with intermediate-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks
