Responsibilities

The Property Officer is responsible for receiving, stocking, shipping and maintaining inventory of all center supplies and equipment.

  • Receives and ships all property and issues same.
  • Maintains perpetual inventory and is responsible for inventory control and accountability of supplies and equipment.
  • Prepares actual inventory monthly prior to book closing.
  • Posts and maintains inventory records in accordance with Department of Labor and center guidelines.
  • Verifies all incoming supplies and materials for quantity and accuracy. Receives them in Costpoint.
  • Monitors inventory levels of consumable materials, except food stuffs, and prepares appropriate purchase requisitions for approval.
  • Maintains control numbers on all documents and a master control over numbers of documents used.
  • Prepares necessary reports for submission to the Department of Labor, as required by the Code of Federal Regulations, ET Handbooks, Federal Procurement Regulations and other pertinent directions for property list certification, at least once a year.
  • Screens excess property list for possible utilization on center.
  • Arranges for disposition of excess materials in accordance with procedures as stated in the Property Handbook.
  • Create and audit custodian logs.
  • Procures supplies, materials and equipment from General Services Administration (GSA) self-service, store and other vendors.
  • Maintains accurate records on the physical location of all center property.
  • Quarterly trains staff on property requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum: Must have a High School diploma or equivalent. One year’s experience in property/inventory control capacity. Model company Core Values

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus Job Corps experience.

Knowledge Required: Knowledge of Government property management requirements and procedures desired. Must be able to obtain required State’s driver’s license. Good computer and typing skills required. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Good organizational skills.

All post offer candidates must complete and pass a background check and drug screen.
