At CareDx, we are seeking a leader in Medical Affairs to serve as Regional Director (RD) for the Medical Science Liaison (MSL) team. The role reports to the Head of Field & Medical Affairs. The RD directs, leads, and oversees the implementation of the strategic vision and direction for the regional MSL field team to ensure alignment of CareDx’s product and pipeline portfolio across diverse sets of external stakeholders. The RD identifies, communicates, and addresses trends in the US solid organ transplant environment and engages with cross-functional partners including research, product development, clinical operations, medical, and commercial teams in support of advancing the awareness and understanding of CareDx science.

The ideal Regional Director candidate is a professional with previous experience as a front-line manager, preferably of field medical science liaisons. This person will be responsible for identifying MSL candidates that want to serve clinicians to exchange scientific and medical data/information supporting our transplant patient solutions. Our MSL team is passionate about patient care and ensuring access, and all members have a significant impact on the continued growth of an organization dedicated to changing the entire landscape of transplantation. 

Responsibilities:

Lead and contribute to the development of clinical and strategic medical engagement plans supporting the scientific education, adoption, and utilization of CareDx products and services. 

  • As a member of the Field Medical leadership team develop annual team goals, objectives, and field strategies.
  • Work closely with field medical leadership and medical affairs team to ensure that the educational, research, and other medical affairs needs of customers are met, including support for customer facing materials and other MSL resources.
  • Hire and mentor a territory specific team of medical science liaisons locally aligned with clinicians across defined territories.
  • Implement and oversee MSL team priorities to support medical activities consistent with field medical and business strategic imperatives.
  • Provide oversight responsibility for the regional MSL team’s training and development.
  • Responsible for accountability of the MSL team for the region
  • Drive professional growth and development of the MSLs in the team 
  • Ensure timely and strategic development of regional territory/account plans.
  • Oversee collection of MSL team medical insights and identify regional trends impacting clinical practice patterns.
  • Engage internal leaders and external stakeholders to ensure that MSLs are addressing the pressing unmet medical needs through continuous innovation.
  • Ensure operational translation of corporate and medical strategic priorities into objectives, metrics, and clear engagement guidance based on region.
  • Develop mutually collaborative partnerships with internal stakeholder groups such as Clinical Operations, New Product Development, Customer Experience, Market Access and Commercial (Sales, Marketing), etc, to align strategic objectives and optimize engagement efforts.
  • Professionally represent the company at industry conferences, meetings, and other events. 
  • Identify and develop relationships with key decision-makers in territory accounts including academic and community clinics, hospital systems, and other institutions that influence or manage the use of diagnostic products.
  • Educate and conduct meaningful scientific exchange with territory clinicians on the clinical value proposition of CareDx products and services to drive plan inclusion and appropriate utilization.
  • Stay abreast of the latest scientific and clinical advancements relevant to our products.
  • Contribute to the development and review of scientific materials, publications, and presentations.

Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of strong strategic leadership, teamwork, innovation, project management. 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, lead and mentor individuals.
  • Performance oriented with business acumen and focus on customer service and patient-centric attitude.
  • Ability to pivot and work in an ever-changing environment with excellent organization skills.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship building skills.
  • Requires advanced degree in health sciences or related field (i.e PharmD, PhD, MD degree)
  • Requires 5 years of experience in biotechnology, industry, medical field or similar relevant experience, with 1 years demonstrated leadership as front-line manager.
  • Excellent clinical and business acumen to drive improvements and innovation.
  • Diagnostic medical science liaison experience or clinical lead experience in transplantation or similar disease state is preferred.
  • Ability to travel approximately 50%
