Care New England is Hiring a Genetic Counselor Near Providence, RI

Job Summary: The Prenatal Genetic Counselor will work within a thriving and fast-paced clinical environment in partnership with our prenatal ultrasound and diagnosis centers and provide outpatient genetic counseling services to a variety of patients in prenatal genetics with diverse referral indications. As a prenatal genetic counselor in our division, this individual will see patients independently providing genetic counseling and working in conjunction with Maternal-Fetal Medicine physicians in some cases to provide a care plan to patients. Responsibilities include: working amongst robust prenatal genetic counseling team, assisting and performing preauthorization requests to insurance for genetic testing, genetic counseling for range of prenatal diagnoses, attendance to monthly genetics meetings and bi-monthly prenatal genetics meetings, supervise genetic counseling interns, and serve as on-call genetic counselor in the prenatal ultrasound and diagnostic units. This individual must demonstrate ability to work with patients from diverse cultural backgrounds, life experience, education levels and socioeconomic status. There are also education and teaching opportunities both within the hospital and in the community.

Specifications: Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling or Human Genetics from a college or university program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Genetic Counseling (ACGC). Board certified or board- eligible genetic counselor; board certification is required within 12 months of employment. Provisional license and then a full genetic counseling license in RI & MA within 12 months. Proficiency in the English Language required.
