The Providence CenterJob Title: CLINICAL THERAPIST 

SUMMARY 
To provide outpatient psychotherapy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Perform initial screening, intake and assessment, orientation, crisis intervention, counseling, screening, case management, client education, referral, treatment planning, and consultation for clients in the program.

Perform a comprehensive psychosocial assessment of assigned consumers.
-Treat consumers with respect.
-Perform in a calm and professional manner during crisis or emergency situations.
-Apply knowledge of Psychiatric Diagnosis (DSM IV).
-Perform and record mental status examination.
-Assess clinical emergencies, including suicide and danger to others.
-Collect pertinent data from appropriate collateral sources in accordance with confidentiality guidelines.

Provide individual, group, and family mental health and/or substance abuse therapy.
-Treat consumers with respect.
-Perform in a calm and professional manner during crisis or emergency situations.
-Maintain confidentiality in accordance with Center policy and legal requirements.

Collaborate with other providers, agencies, and individuals in the consumers' network of care.
-Maintain knowledge and familiarity of mental health and/or substance abuse and other related community agencies.
-Communicate with various local agencies and individuals, as well as with Center staff.

Perform record keeping in accordance with Health Information Services and other Center requirements.
-Complete daily activity logs.
-Complete initial assessment forms.
-Complete progress notes with appropriate format.

OCCASIONAL DUTIES:
-Serve on appropriate Center committees.
-Provide mental health consultation to other community agencies.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 
Master degree in Social Work and relevant clinical experience. LICSW/LMHC with 5 year post licensure  or be in the process of obtaining Independent license (LICSW and/or LMHC), and LCDP required. Experience providing substance abuse treatment preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS 
Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with consumers, community agencies and Center employees.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 
Insured auto and valid driver's license.
