Canoe Brook Country Club is currently looking for a Staff Accountant to join the Finance Team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing the financial aspects of the club's operations. This role typically involves a combination of accounting duties, financial analysis, and reporting.

Responsibilities

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

Prepare accurate monthly financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas of improvement.

Assist in budget preparation and financial forecasting.

Accounting and Bookkeeping:

Perform general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliation, and ledger maintenance.

Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments.

Oversee payroll processing, including tax deductions, benefits, and compliance with federal and state regulations.

Auditing and Compliance:

Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits.

Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax laws, and regulatory requirements.

Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial assets.

Membership and Revenue Management:

Assist in managing membership accounting, including dues billing, collections, and reporting.

Monitor revenue streams, such as events, dining, and recreational services, to ensure accurate recording and reporting.

Financial Support and Advisory:

Provide financial analysis and support to management for decision-making purposes.

Advise on cost reduction, revenue enhancement, and profitability improvement strategies.

Participate in strategic planning and projects related to financial management and operational efficiency.

Payroll:

Assist with the processing of payroll and schedule management when needed.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

A minimum of 2-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the hospitality or leisure industry.

Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.

Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.

Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to interact with staff, management, and club members.

Working Conditions:

Office environment within the country club facilities.

Standard working hours with occasional overtime during peak seasons or audit periods.
