Cannon is Hiring an Automation Senior Associate Engineer (San Luis Obispo, CA) Near San Luis Obispo, CA

Description

Job Duties:

  • Design and prepare plans, specifications, and estimates of probable cost for a variety of Automation Control Systems engineering projects.
  • Coordinate with representatives of clients, vendors, material suppliers, and contractors to obtain information and guidance, and make appropriate equipment selection. This includes instrumentation, industrial control system hardware/software.
  • Act as Project Manager in development of designs and execution of control systems projects to maintain project schedule and to ensure high-quality review of final deliverables.
  • Provide field observation and reports.
  • Prepare Control Narrative, Process Control Descriptions, technical specifications, and design drawings.
  • Program and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), including ladder logic, function block, structured text routines.
  • Program and troubleshoot Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), including communication drivers, graphic object development, data historization, alarm management, trending, and reporting.
  • Design, programming, and implementation of network infrastructure for SCADA systems, including HMI Servers, Virtualization Services, network hardware, network infrastructure/components, and Fieldbus networks.
  • Ensure that systems and equipment are serviced, programmed, adjusted, and calibrated to meet the client’s requirements.
  • Assess software and hardware and makes recommendations for upgrades and/or replacement.

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering/electronics engineering with concentration in Controls (or foreign equivalent) 5 years of relevant experience or in lieu, master’s degree in electrical engineering/electronics engineering with concentration in Controls (or foreign equivalent) 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Requires a minimum 3 years of experience in the following:
  • PLC/HMI design, programming and troubleshooting in Simens or Allen-Bradley or Schneider Electric software platform. 
  • Hands-on experience with design, programming and troubleshooting of Siemens PLC/HMI systems such as Simatic Step-7, Simatic Manager, TIA Portal, WinCC Flexible/SCADA.
  • Experience with design, programming, and implementation of Fieldbus networks protocols (HART, Modbus, Profibus, Foundation Fieldbus, OPC).
