Summary:
Payroll processors are responsible for timesheet facilitation, employee data validation and payroll resolution. This includes system maintenance, processing wages, deductions, and other payments to ensure that everyone is paid correctly and on time.
Job Description:
A payroll processor typically has a wide range of responsibilities, which can include:
  • Ensure that all payroll data entry of new hires, terminations, rate changes and employee classifications are correct for each employee in Deltek.
  • Review employee wage records to ensure that they are accurate and up to date.
  • Ensure that payroll records are kept for each employee, including name, pay rate and dates worked.
  • Prepare import files for payroll processing agency.
  • Process new hires by setting up employee records in the human resources system or personnel database.
  • Data validation changes, process employee referral bonus, validate 401k contribution.
  • Prepare reports regarding payroll activities, processing payroll deductions, and updating employee records.
  • Communicate with employees regarding their pay, including issues with direct deposit or payment methods.
  • Import and export timecard data.
  • Follow-up on missing timecards for active employees.
  • Back-up/support Payroll Manager.
  • Assist with payroll reconciliations as needed.
Educational Requirements:
  • At minimum, an associate degree required.
  • 2-5 years’ experience working in a payroll setting.
