The Regional Design Lead (RDL) is responsible for the leadership, oversight and production of design drafting resources in a Regional Office. This individual oversees a team of design drafting resources in the local office and shall motivate, support, and ensure compliance to project budget, schedule and quality requirements.

• Serve as the local region design/drafting lead and oversees a team of design drafters in his or her local office or region.
• Responsible for meeting utilization targets of design/drafting resources under his or her direction.
• Collaborates with other Regional Design Leads/Managers on resource utilization when additional design drafting support is needed or when a resource is becoming available for a new or additional assignment.
• Works with Project Managers and Engineering Leads in developing a comprehensive workflow process, tasks, and project assignments.
• Provides guidance and support to design/drafters in his or her office to ensure a thorough understanding of expectations and an alignment to schedule and budget requirements is clear.
• Required to have a thorough understanding of the Design Drafting QC process for the primary client in his or her region. Coordinates with the specific software/discipline workstream Subject Matter Expert (SME) and QAQC department to ensure that the Quality Control requirements are incorporated into the client-specific QC process.
• Assist Project Managers with project planning, scheduling, and manpower estimates.
• Lead multi-disciplinary team of various drafting softwares.
• Utilize staff development strategies designed by the Design Drafting Director that aim to outline the road map for elevating drafters through designers and beyond.
• Work collaboratively with the Software SMEs to ensure that templates, libraries and tools are developed for individual clients and in compliance with each client’s standards.
• Work with Regional and Design Drafting Directors to address employee performance issues.
• Work with Regional Director to outline specific performance outcomes/goals for his or her position.
• Work with direct reports to outline specific performance outcomes/goals.
• Conduct recurring 1-on-1’s with direct reports to capture wins and challenges as well as to document progress towards goals and assist in the design of action plans to address challenges.
• Adheres to hybrid work schedule (3 days in Atlanta office minimum, additional days encouraged)
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience: 

• Experience in leading a team in an operational or production environment
• Minimum 6 years in the design engineering or architectural industries with demonstrated experience in managing and overseeing design operations.
