Position Summary
As the 2024 election cycle intensifies, Campaign Legal Center is hiring multiple attorneys at the Legal Counsel and/or Senior Legal Counsel levels. At least one of these positions will be a member of CLC’s Strategic Litigation team; other positions may focus on litigation, on policy/legislative advocacy, or on a combination thereof.
CLC’s Strategic Litigation team conducts cases in federal and state courts challenging anti-voter laws and practices, seeking accountability for violations of campaign finance laws, advancing structural election reforms, and opposing attempts to subvert elections. Responsibilities include assessing litigation opportunities and mapping CLC’s litigation strategy, preparing pleadings, motions, and briefs, conducting discovery, and engaging in all other aspects of trial and appellate proceedings.
CLC’s policy/legislative attorneys develop, implement, advocate for, and defend laws and regulations that combat election sabotage and promote voter freedom across the country. They provide legal expertise to policymakers on democracy-advancing measures, and they manage relationships with national, state, and local clients and partners. Responsibilities include analyzing and drafting legislation and policy proposals, creating advocacy materials, testifying before legislatures and other governmental bodies, and working closely with coalitions to support community efforts to promote the freedom to vote and combat election sabotage.
Attorneys at the Senior Legal Counsel level may supervise other attorneys and paralegals on specific cases and matters.
Legal Counsel/Senior Legal Counsel are eligible to take part in CLC’s hybrid work policy. Applicants from all geographic areas of the United States are welcome.
A resume and cover letter are required to apply for this position; applications submitted without a cover letter will not be considered. These positions will remain open until filled. Please indicate in your cover letter whether you have a preference for a litigation position, for a policy/legislative position, for a position with both litigation and policy/legislative responsibilities, or if you have no preference.
