POSITIONS: Group Leader, 21st Century Programs
HOURS OF WORK: Part-time, up to 15hrs/wk; Mon – Thur.
POSITIONS LOCATED IN: Washington STEM Elementary School (Lynn), Connery Elementary School (Lynn), Hood ( located at 2 Cain Road, Salem, MA)
HOURLY RATE: up to $25.00 per hour

Camp Fire North Shore is a non-profit organization located in Salem and Lynn, MA offering after school care, summer day camp, teen and club programs, and self-reliance workshops to youth on the North Shore. Camp Fire North Shore has been awarded funding to implement new and innovative out of school time programs for students at the Washington STEM, Connery, and Hood Elementary Schools. Camp Fire is seeking a number of Group Leaders to work under the guidance of our Program/Site Coordinator at the 21st Century Community Learning Center Camp Fire @ Washington, Camp Fire @ Hood and Camp Fire @ Connery programs. The program targets at-risk and FLNE school age youth in grades K through 5. Art Therapy, social emotional learning, project based learning and physical activities will be the focus of the program, with an expected outcome of closing the achievement gap for the targeted groups of students. This is a full year position and includes summer programming. Summer programming is located at Camp Fire’s program facility in Salem. During the school year program Group Leader hours are 1pm until 4:30pm or 2pm until 5pm, depending on site location. Staff planning time is embedded in these hours. Additional meetings and trainings, with some occurring on Fridays, would also be required. In the summer months program will run Monday thru Friday, 8 hours per day.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Plan and implement areas such as: creative arts, sports, music/movement, gross motor skills, science, nature, self-esteem, etc.
  • Observe children and document observations throughout the year.
  • Administer assessments to participants, and use outcome data to inform planning and programming.
  • Assist in keeping the program environment neat, clean, safe, stimulating, and enjoyable for all age groupings.
  • Complete, record and distribute accident/incident reports as needed.
  • Report all incidents and issues with children to the Program/Site Coordinator.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings and other workshops & trainings scheduled for staff.
  • Fulfill the Department of Early Education and Care training requirements for 12 hours of professional development training annually.
  • First Aid Certified (we will provide paid certification training)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Group Leaders shall be a school-based employee such as a teacher or paraprofessional, have experience working directly with school-age children, and must meet one of the following sets of requirements:

  • Have a Bachelor’s Degree or Associates Degree; and have 3 months’ experience working with school age children;
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent; and have 6 months’ experience working with school age children, including 3 months supervised at a school age child care program; or
  • Have 9 months’ experience with school age children including three months supervised experience at a school age child care program.
