JOB SUMMARY

The Fund Development Specialist is a committed relationship-builder and collaborative team member who works to ensure a positive donor experience through engagement, cultivation and stewardship. The Fund Development Specialist is responsible for managing the donor database including maintaining accurate donor records, recording all donations, tracking pledges, producing all acknowledgments, preparing leadership reports, recognizing contributions, etc. This position also participates in identifying and executing annual fundraising appeals and donor stewardship program/activities and is responsible for the efficient operation of fundraising events, campaigns and special projects as assigned.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates and implements plans/projects/appeals, including annual donor and employee appeals, to attract new donors and maintain good relationships with existing donors.
  • Accountable for receiving donations and managing financial tracking of all donations including database entry, bank deposits, record keeping, etc. Works closely with the Executive Director and accounting/finance staff to analyze revenue and expenses and other key performance metrics.
  • Oversees the Foundation’s donor database and enters all donor/donation records/donations in accordance with Foundation policies including managing the integrity and accuracy of the donor data, the query and export of key reports, enhanced capabilities of email/newsletters, auction pages, etc. Prepares accurate and timely reports for leadership as required.
  • Maintains and grows relationships with existing donors and new prospects through stewardship efforts to grow and/or sustain regular giving.
  • Manages key aspects of fundraising events and activities including event logistics, promotional planning and ordering/tracking of promotional item inventory.
  • Coordinates Foundation marketing, social media and public media relations including material updates, social media posts, website updates and media presence.
  • Attends and/or represents the Foundation at meetings and events as requested.
  • Completes other special projects as assigned and assists as backup for other Foundation staff.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

Minimum

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Communication, Fundraising, Nonprofit Management or other related field. In lieu of a degree, equivalent experience will be considered

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Communication, Fundraising, Nonprofit Management

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Exceptional oral/written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work with a diverse group of people
  • Track record demonstrating ability to function independently and as a team member, and consistently deliver quality outcomes
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Competent in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
