C&M Legal Search is Hiring an Intellectual Property Litigation Paralegal Near Washington, DC

 IP Litigation ParalegalOur client is seeking a litigation paralegal with a combination of experience at the district court and federal circuit plus the International Trade Commission. They are willing to train candidates that have experience at some but not all of those avenues. They need candidates who can respond quickly to shifting demands and thrive while working under tight deadlines. Successful paralegals are able to deliver a high-quality work product and work independently with minimal supervision. Paralegals would ideally work a hybrid schedule from the DC metro area and/or be willing to relocate to the DC metro area. They are open to remote candidates on a case-by-case basis. They would expect some travel to trial locations, depending on trial schedules. How will you make an impact?
  • Creating, organizing, reviewing, and maintaining patent litigation case files including discovery.
  • Maintaining and monitoring litigation docket and due dates; managing litigation calendars using CompuLaw.
  • Compiling, assisting, and preparing court filings including, but not limited to, proofreading, cite checking, motions, briefs, and memoranda; and assembling exhibits and appendices at the Federal Circuit, District and Appellate courts, and the International Trade Commission (ITC).
  • Performing factual and legal research in databases including Lexis Nexis, Westlaw, Docket Navigator, PACER, EDIS, and the USPTO.
  • Preparing materials for depositions, hearings, trials, and arbitrations. 
  • Attending and providing support to attorneys at court and agency proceedings, including the ITC. 
  • Mentoring junior paralegals as needed. 
  • Other litigation and trial support tasks.
What will you bring to the role?
  • Strong academic credentials and undergraduate degree preferred. Paralegal certificate preferred, but not required. 
  • 5 or more years of experience as a litigation paralegal required.
  • Some combination of trial experience and knowledge of IP litigation at the District Court, Federal Circuit, and/or ITC required.
  • A willingness to support matters at any level.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Stellar cite checking skills.
  • A team-player mentality.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the litigation process and e-discovery; experience with database management software, review, and production.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, CompuLaw, Case Notebook, Relativity, IPRO (Eclipse), and FileSite.
  • Must be flexible to work overtime on an as-needed basis.
The good faith base salary range for this position is $75,000 to $115,000 per year. The actual salary rate offered to candidates within that range will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, years of relevant experience, education, and the candidate’s overall qualifications for the position as assessed by the Firm.
