Law Clerk IQualifications:  
  • *Requires law degree, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one (1) year of study or, an equivalent level of legal training or experience or an equivalent level of education may be substituted
 
  • *Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources
  • *Thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw
  • *Must have hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging
  • *Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of e-Discovery procedures and resources
  • *Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure will be very important
 
  • *Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
  • *Must be a U.S. Citizen
Preferred Qualifications:*Experience working in a government and/or Litigation Support environment in conjunction with basic qualifications*Trial experience *Current or active security clearance Law Clerk IResponsibilities/Duties:The Law Clerk I candidates shall have familiarity with legal and court documents; demonstrate competency in common software programs, such as the Microsoft Suite, search engines, and legal research databases; be willing to perform electronic data entry tasks; conduct routine correspondence; and possess common computer literacy skills. This is in conjunction with the following requirements of the position.Typical assignments include the following but not limited to:•Screen, review, analyze, and sort incoming mail and correspondence (electronicand hardcopy)• Electronically request reports from the Bureau of Prisons and then collectinformation from those reports to populate fields in the Office of Pardon Attorney’s electronic case management system, Intranet Quorum (IQ)• Scan, prep, unitize, and file petitions of commutation and pardon requests• Scan and process petitions to be uploaded to IQ and to the shared network drive• Issue code data into IQ• Manage routine electronic file maintenance, including organizing backup copiesof original petitions mailed to the office• Compile and organize relevant documents for use by attorneys in preparation for their evaluation of petitionsThe above-mentioned duties may be performed as single functions or in combination with one another.
