Bureau of Reclamation is Hiring an IT Specialist (SysAdmin) Near Clark, NV

Reclamation is seeking a career professional looking for an opportunity to capitalize on their expertise as a IT Specialist (SysAdmin). Make a difference in the West by assisting in meeting increasing water demands while protecting the environment.
Duty Location: Clark County, Nevada

Qualifications:

To be rated as qualified for this position, the HR Office must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement - this information must be clearly supported in the resume.

To qualify at the GS-12, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-11 level in federal service having demonstrated experience such as independently planning and carrying out a wide variety of independent IT troubleshooting duties regarding hardware and software; independently providing systems administration and support of systems and/or networks; and conducting research, analysis, development, and maintenance on systems; implements procedures, analyzes, and audits effectiveness of operating systems.

In addition to specialized experience your resume must also include experience in each of the four following competencies.
1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgement to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, including any selective placement factors if applicable, by 01/22/2024.

Responsibilities:

This is not a virtual position. The duty station is located in the Hoover Dam.
The duties of the full performance level GS-12 IT Specialist (Sysadmin) include:
  • Planning and carrying out difficult and complex assignments in a variety of systems administration areas to include interpreting IT policies, standards, and requirements, and modifying and adapting existing methods and approaches.
  • Performing a wide range and variety of complex IT issues, evaluating and recommending new or enhanced approaches, analyzing, and recommending resolution of complex issues, and analyzes and provides cost benefit analysis to decision-makers.
  • Modifying, adapting, and/or refining broader guidelines to resolve specific complex and/or intricate issues and problems; and identifying and researching trends and patterns to develop new methods and criteria for systems administration activities.
  • Researching options for problem resolution and recommendations. Presenting in writing or orally to audiences within and external to the organization, identifying priorities and barriers to project accomplishment.
