Duty Location: Shasta, California

Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications for trades and labor positions are determined by evaluation of job elements. You must meet at least 2 points on the screen-out element(s) and obtain an average of at least 2 points on all of the job elements in order to be considered qualified for this position.

Physical Effort - Performs work on hard surfaces in areas that require standing, stooping, and bending in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries supplies, materials, and equipment up to 40 pounds. Heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers.

Working Conditions - Work is performed inside or outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted. Employee is regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, falls, and other injuries inherent in a warehouse environment. In certain work situations involving hazardous materials, wears protective clothing, respirators, and other specialized protective devices, in addition to their basic protective equipment (e.g., hard hats, safety glasses, safety shoes, and earplugs). When performing driving duties, employee operates vehicles in all types of traffic and weather on public roads (or equivalent), including heavy traffic, varied highway speeds, over complicated roads, and interchanges, and is exposed to the danger of serious accidents.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Time-In-Grade: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower-grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b). Applicants eligible under the Land Management Workforce Flexibility Act (LMWFA) are not required to meet time-in-grade restrictions in order to be considered.

Responsibilities:

- Handles or oversees one or more product lines used primarily for the purpose of maintaining supply support to a large hydroelectric dam operation, including outlying work site locations.
- Performs all phases of the work involved in the receiving, inspection, unloading, loading, temporary storage, set-out for issue, and distribution of a wide variety of supplies, equipment, and other items utilized for power plant operations.
- Receives, sorts, tags, and routes the movement of a wide variety of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, building, general maintenance and departmental supplies, related and unrelated parts, materials, and equipment into or out of multiple operational areas and facilities.
- Facilitates movement of materials in accordance with priorities, scheduling requirements, and space allocation plans.
- Operates forklifts, stake-bed trucks, standard pickup trucks, enclosed box vans, passenger vehicles, and various types of material handling, banding, and packaging equipment.
- Rearranges stocking locations or configurations to maximize storage efficiency to include re-warehousing and/or adjustments of warehouse racking and shelves.
- Coordinates with program area personnel to locate priority stock that can be expedited and processed to meet increased demand or projected needs.
- Monitors the movement and receipt of material from refurbishment work areas, examining stock items for quality assurance, proper identification, product condition, and adherence to established re-stock standards.
- Resolves problems related to returned materials and communicates information through proper channels to further correct projected work efforts.
- Reviews parts lists and inventories of existing stock to determine related or associated stock items (such as sub-components) in need of replenishment to meet projected or increased workload.
- Reports unresolved shortages with recommendations for increased re-supply.
- Monitors working condition of tools, equipment, and machinery used by warehouse operations and shop facilities.
