Bureau of Reclamation is Hiring an Engineering Technician Near Provo, UT

Reclamation is seeking a career professional looking for an opportunity to capitalize on their expertise as a Engineering Technician. You can make a difference in the West by assisting in meeting increasing water demands while protecting the environment.
Duty Location: Provo, Utah

Qualifications:

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. If qualifying based on education, a copy of your unofficial transcripts must be provided with your application.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level in which you are applying:

Specialized Experience: Applicants must have one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) performing the following: 1) using equipment in the preparation, design, and evaluation of materials; 2) interpreting plans and specifications for compliance to engineering standards and requirements; and 3) performing a variety of standardized inspections of materials.

OR

Education:
Successful completion of at least one full year (18 semester/27 quarter hours) of graduate level education or a master's degree in which the coursework is directly related to the work of the position (such as: Engineering, Construction Management, or Surveying). The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. You must include transcripts.

OR

Combination:
Successful completion of a combination of graduate level education that is directly related to the position and experience as described above. To combine education and experience, first take the semester or quarter hours. Then take the number of months of full-time experience and divide by 12 months. Add the percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. You must include transcripts.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as 'varies'.

You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, including any selective placement factors if applicable, by 01/22/2024.

Responsibilities:

This position is located in the Office Engineering Division, Design and Contract Administration Group, Provo Area Office. The selectee will serve as an Engineering Technician in a variety of work situations aligned with and/or supporting professional engineering and architecture fields.
  • Analyze project objectives and make adjustments to standard procedures based on situations encountered.
  • Collect and interpret data from a variety of sources.
  • Perform quality assurance checks.
  • Interpret plans and specifications.
  • Present data collected in a clear and organized manner.
Duties will be in developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.
