Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Experience in finance, marketing, strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, administration, operations, training, and effective staff leadership
  • Minimum of (8) eight years of related progressive experience in hotel and/or food & beverage accounting or related field; or a 4-year college degree with an Accounting/ Finance concentration and a minimum of 4-years of related progressive experience
  • Experience preferably in an upscale or lifestyle brand hotel; opening experience preferred
  • College degree required; Bachelor's degree with degree preference in Hospitality, Finance/Business Analytics, or Hospitality Management
  • Accuracy and efficiency with mathematical calculations
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficiency with computers and financial systems
  • Ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment and have a high-level attention to detail
  • Possess a gracious, friendly, and fun demeanor, and maintain positive and productive working relationships with other employees and departments
  • Ability to work independently and to partner with others to promote an environment of teamwork
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule, which may include weekends and holidays
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English

Job Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for property level accounting work product and approve prior to ownership distribution
    • Cash Flow
    • Forecast
    • Budget
    • P&L Package (statement, variance, narrative, PowerPoint presentation)
    • Capex
    • Balance Sheet Reconciliation Accuracy
  • Lead relationship with third-party accounting firm that oversees Accounts Payable, on path to also take over Income Journal
  • Highlight positive and negative business trends, responding to negative with action based plan formed on insights
    • Optimize what is going well
    • Grow where we are behind
    • Share all knowledge with executive team members to ensure cohesion
  • Conduct annual financial audit for properties to ensure internal controls are up to brand standards
  • Data analysis and ROIs as required
  • Work directly with property teams to review potential revenue and profit improvement opportunities and share best practices
  • Ensure timely invoicing and collection of management fees and reimbursable expenses
  • Ensure property's compliance on all regulatory licenses and permits, leases, contracts, legal agreements, and the proper execution of all operational taxes
  • Participate in the periodic updating of Accounting Standard Operating Procedures
  • Oversee the hiring, onboarding, and support of property level Controllers, and/or Directors of Accounting as well as centralized accounting team in the corporate office to include training and guidance with financial systems; and any and all other work as required to complete the primary purpose of the position
  • Oversee insurance renewals including producing Statements of Values and analyzing property insurance bids as well as communicating changes to owners and asset managers
  • Responsible for corporate accounting work product including month-end closing, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, cash flow, A/R management, forecast, budget, P&L package, annual external audits (corporate, 401K, WC, GL, property internal audit), etc.
  • Administration for Finance and Payroll based systems as required (e.g. accounting [DataPlus], HRIS [UKG], T&A [Unifocus] and more)
  • Oversight regarding banking for corporate and property level (e.g. safeguarding protocols, controls, updating signature cards as required)
  • Oversight of the Payroll Department responsible for paying all corporate and property level employees
  • Other projects as assigned
Based upon fluctuating demands of the operation and to exceed customer expectations, it may be necessary to perform a multitude of different functions not specifically related to this position. This person may be expected to perform other tasks and duties as needed or as directed. Furthermore, employee responsibilities and job descriptions are subject to review and revision.
Working Conditions/Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, typical of a hotel/restaurant/office setting
The person in this position may have to lift/carry up to fifty (50) pounds on a daily basis; anything over fifty (50) pounds is considered a minimum two (2) person lift
The person having this position may have to remain stationary for one (1) hour, move about/traverse property spaces, push, kneel, bend, balance, squat, reach and stretch for up to eight (8) hours per day
