Bullis School seeks an Upper School Latin Teacher to contribute to our vibrant learning community starting in the 2024-25 academic year. Candidates should be capable of, and interested in, teaching students in classes ranging from Latin I to Latin V/VI, and potentially AP, for grades 9-12. Responsibilities include teaching five classes, contributing to department initiatives, and advising. Additional opportunities to supervise after-school activities are based on need and interest. This is a 10-month position reporting to the Upper School World Language Department Chair.
The Bullis Upper School World Languages program emphasizes acquisition, teaching toward proficiency, and assessing performance using Integrated Performance Assessments (IPAs). Guided by the theory and principles of Comprehensible Input (CI), teachers build lessons that engage and challenge students as they grow toward an ability to function in the target language. Teachers employ their creativity to form interdisciplinary, cultural, and personal connections by incorporating a variety of media, such as novellas and blogs, in the target language. Bullis students have opportunities to learn Spanish beginning in Lower School and Chinese, French, and Latin beginning in Middle School.

Education and Experience
Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Latin, Classics, or a related field
Proficiency in reading Latin at an Intermediate or higher level
Preferred:
Master’s Degree in Latin, Classics, or a related field
Proficiency in both written and spoken Latin at an Intermediate or higher level
Minimum of three years of teaching experience in middle or secondary education
Experience teaching in a technology-rich environment
Teaching certificates are not required
