Job Description

Job Title: Senior Manager, Training & Development Department: Training & Development Reporting To: Director, Staff Training & Development FLSA Status: Exempt About Us: Building Services 32BJ Benefit Funds is the umbrella organization responsible for administering Health, Pension, Retirement Savings, Training, and Legal Services benefits to over 100,000 SEIU 32BJ members. Position Overview: The Senior Manager, Training & Development is responsible for helping our employees develop their skills and knowledge and improve the productivity of the organization's employees. You will assess company-wide developmental needs to drive training initiatives and identify and arrange suitable training solutions for employees. You will also actively search, creatively design, develop, facilitate, and implement effective methods to educate, enhance and recognize performance. Reporting to the Director of Staff Training & Development, the Senior Training & Development Manager will have overall responsibility for various initiatives focused on developing the Funds internal talent and fostering a culture that emphasizes professional development, career advancement and individual excellence. Responsibilities: * Identify and assess the training needs of the organization through job analysis, career paths and consultation with managers. * Develop individualized and group training programs that address specific business needs. * Manage all activities related to the planning, development and delivery of training programs including new employee orientation, health and safety practices, supervisory development, compliance, systems (technology), functional training and online learning programs * Evaluate organizational performance to ensure that training is meeting business needs and improving performance. * Conducts follow-up studies of all completed training to evaluate and measure results. * Trains and coaches managers, supervisors and others involved in employee development efforts. * Obtain and or/ develop training materials that target tangible results using a variety of media and purposeful training methods. * Assess employees' skills, performance, and productivity to identify areas of improvement. * Develops and maintains organizational communications such as intranet bulletin boards and newsletters to ensure employees have knowledge of training and development events and resources. * Create, update, manage and assign training in the Learning Management System (LMS). Technical Skills: Minimum experience, skills, certification, and academic background necessary to perform the position: * 5 years of experience in training groups and individuals on technical, business and leadership skills including involvement with developing organization wide training strategy * 3 years of experience using remote technology and virtual learning methods. * 3 years of demonstrated track record of success in leading any of the following: large scale system implementation training, Business Process/Functions, Change Management, Organizational Development or Talent Management initiatives * Experience in coaching leaders in leadership development issues on a wide range of relevant topics (e.g., strategic planning, conflict resolution, change mastery, etc.) to enhance performance across a function or organization. * Experience with instructional design, managing instructional design projects, and/or Learning Management Systems strongly preferred. * In-depth knowledge of best practices for developing a variety of corporate training programs and understanding of adult learning concepts. * Proven ability to complete full training cycle (needs assessment, planning, development, coordination, implementation, facilitation, and evaluation) * Highly computer/technology literate- with proficiency in MS Office/Windows/M365 software user including advanced knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, related business, and communication tools as well as training content creation applications. * Prior experience working with a Learning Management System (LMS). Interpersonal Skills: * Negotiating - Exchanging ideas, information, and opinions with others to formulate policies and programs and/or jointly arrive at decisions, conclusions, solutions, or solve disputes. * Communicating - Talking with and/or listening to and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information; includes giving/receiving assignments and/or directions.
