Summary: The Parts Advisor plays a crucial role in supporting technicians and customers by facilitating the acquisition of necessary parts and supplies. This position entails achieving monthly sales goals, actively pursuing parts business, and ensuring the seamless management of parts-related transactions.

Essential Duties:

  • Greet customers promptly, obtain vehicle information, and provide friendly assistance.
  • Track all incoming and outgoing parts, including locating available parts when the dealership is out of stock.
  • Handle parts payment collections and ensure accurate billing through the service department and body shop.
  • Package and ship parts to the manufacturer as needed.
  • Refer to parts manuals to identify correct parts for vehicles.
  • Assist Service Advisors with estimates and part orders.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of parts to prevent damage.
  • Prepare invoices for parts that require delivery.
  • Order parts accurately and promptly using the company's parts catalog system.
  • Maintain high customer satisfaction standards.
  • Advise Parts Manager of any unsatisfactory conditions in the department.
  • Keep parts areas safe and clean by organizing and storing all parts appropriately.

Requirements:

  • High School Graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Technical school; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company standards.

Language Skills:

  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and employees.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Perform basic arithmetic functions.
  • Calculate figures and amounts, including discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Dealing with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Physical Demands: The physical demands of this role include standing, sitting, walking, and occasional lifting of objects. Flexibility in changing positions is allowed to perform routine tasks. Reasonable accommodation may be made for individuals with disabilities.
